Honor 8X: AI Camera, 91% Screen-To-Body Ratio And Much More

The handset maker Huawei’s Brand Honor will launch its mid-range smartphone Honor 8X this month. Honor 8X will be an upgraded version of Honor 7X, which was launched last year. In the camera department of the new Honor 8X, you will get vertical dual rear camera setup on the back side. When it comes to SOC, Kirin 710 chipset has been used in the Honor 8X for catering speed and multitasking. This handset brand will compete with Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 5 Pro and Nokia’s 6.1 Plus. It is expected that the price of Honor 8X would be around $250. So will the Honor 8X benefit the customers who are looking forward to buying it? Let’s answer the question and know about its specifications and features.

Honor 8X Design and Specifications:

Honor 8X offers a premium look and it also has a strong built quality. Its design is so appealing, it is clearly indicating that it is not falling in the budget segment and will cost more than $220. A dual-tone color scheme is used on the back panel on this device. Honor 8X has a 6.5 inch (1080×2340 pixels) IPS LCD display whose aspect ratio is 19.5:9. The bezels on the sides look very neat to me and they make the phone look more beautiful.

The chin of Honor 8X is significantly thinner than Honor 9N and Honor Play. No buttons are present at the bottom which enables you to easily use any of the options on-screen or EMUI gestures. On the left side of the phone, there is a sim-tray (two Nano SIM and MicroSD card slot). On the right side, we have the power button and volume buttons. At the bottom, you have a loudspeaker, 3.5mm headphone jack, primary microphone, and micro-USB port. At this price, the company has decided not to give the USB-Type C charging port. The secondary microphone has been placed on the top of the phone.

Honor 8X camera:

Vertical dual rear camera setup for photography can be seen on the back side of this phone. There is a 20-megapixel primary sensor with aperture F / 1.8 and 2-megapixel depth sensor. A 16-megapixel front camera is provided to take crisp selfies and for the purpose of video calling. Honor 8X rear and front camera are AI-powered which seems to cope with the on-going AI trend. You can also use the AI feature as per your convenience or even turn it off.

Honor 8X Software:

The Honor 8X comes with EMUI 8.2 which is based on Android 8.1 Oreo. The company has not yet announced when the phone will get the Android 9.0 Pie software update but we hope sooner or late it will arrive. The number of pre-installed apps bloatware in the Honor brand’s smartphone has been reduced. Applications like Facebook, Facebook Messenger, Lords Mobile, Phone Manager, HiCare, AppGallery, Health, Netflix, Camera 360, Honor Club, Party Mode, and Ride Mode might not come pre-installed anymore. In addition to that Google Apps such as Gmail, Google Maps, YouTube, Google Drive, and Google Photos apps may or may not exist. Honor claims that PUBG game can be easily played on the Honor 8X on the medium graphics setting.

Honor 8X other features:

There is a fingerprint sensor and face unlock feature. We found the fingerprint sensor to be amazingly fast and accurate. The Face Unlock feature works even faster, but there is a slight problem while using it in low light. The smartphone has a feature which enhances the brightness of the screen in low light so that your face can be recognized correctly. This will be the first smartphone equipped with Kirin 710 chipset in the Indian market. The phone will have three variants. There will be a 4 GB RAM/ 64GB storage variant, a 6 GB RAM/ 64GB storage variant and its top variant having 6 GB RAM / 128GB storage. The phone comes with a 3,750 mAh battery and 5V / 2A (10 watt) charging support.

So this was a short summary of the Honor 8X which will be released shortly. Stay tuned for more updates.
