The Huawei Honor 8X mobile phone has finally launched by the company after it has been in buzz for a few weeks. This phone was released last month in China. Today we are going to see Honor 8X comparison with Redmi Note 5 Pro which is Xiaomi’s most famous mobile phone till the date.

Honor 8X mobile phone has a dual rear camera setup, in addition to which, you are also getting a display with great viewing angles. Let me tell you that the initial price of Honor 8X mobile phone is INR 14,999. This mobile phone is giving tough competition to many smartphones in India. If the price is considered, then the price of both the devices is quite similar. Let’s start this comparative study with a table of specifications so that you get to know more about which phone out of these two is the best for you to buy.

Let’s start comparing both these phones, the Honor 8X, and Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro in terms of display. In the Honor 8X mobile phone, you get a 6.5-inch display with 2340×1080 resolution. In the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro mobile phone you get a 5.99-inch display with a resolution of 2160×1080. Now here’s the twist when compared to Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, the Honor 8X mobile phone display is a bit bigger, and its resolution is also a bit higher. That is surely going to be your advantage as you are going to get the best experience which watching movies and gaming.

In the Honor 8X mobile phone, you have been given a Kirin 710 octa-core processor. If we consider the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro mobile phone, then you have been given a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 octa-core processor in this device.

Talking about the camera then you will get a 20-MP + 2-MP dual camera setup in the Honor 8X mobile phone, whereas in the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro mobile phone you have 12-MP + 5-MP Dual Rear Camera setup. Apart from this, you have been given a 16-megapixel front camera unit in Honor 8X and there is a 20-megapixel front camera in Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro mobile phone.

So both these phones are strong in some department and weak in the other. But to conclude, I’d say the Honor 8X surely has an edge over the Redmi Note 5 Pro in terms of bigger and brighter display, a better camera & a faster processor.

Lazarus Steals $571M In Cryptocurrency: Is Blockchain Technology Fully Secure?

0

In North Korea, the second most famous name is “Lazarus”, after their leader, Kim Jong Un. North Korea’s “Lazarus” has earned the tag of being the “most profitable cryptocurrency-hacker group” in the world. If we backtrack to the year 2017 from today, the evil minds on the internet have hacked into online exchanges of cryptocurrencies, stealing a huge chunk of money worth $882 million. But the infamous North Korean “Lazarus” has done it better than all others out there.

World’s most efficient cybersecurity unit ‘Group-IB’ is gearing up to present its annual report which will uncover the trends in hi-tech cybercrime. A short story by Hard Fork tells us about the 14 various attacks on cryptocurrency firms since January 2017 and it estimates that the Lazarus group is responsible for illegal earnings around $571 million. This amount accounts for more than half of the total amount stolen in an unauthenticated manner.

Source: Group-IB

Traditional methods and tools like spear phishing, social engineering, malware etc are usually used by the hackers to target the cryptocurrency exchanges.

“Spear phishing remains the major practice of undertaking attack on corporate networks.”

Let’s understand this with the help of an example where fraudsters slip in the malware by embedding it under the cover of CV spam within an attachment.  After they get access to the local network, the hackers look for the local network to get information about workstations and servers serving the private cryptocurrency wallets.

The Group-IB has put forward its prediction that the instances of targeted attacks on cryptocurrency exchanges will increase in number, and not only the ones from Lazarus but many new hackers will emerge soon. IB is also concerned about the most aggressive hackers who usually attack banks, will shift their focus to cryptocurrency exchanges as they are now aware of the fast growth of cryptocurrency all around the world.

“56% of ICO funds were stolen using Phishing.”

The IB made its stand clear that the hackers are taking advantage of “crypto-fever,” where investors are crowding in large numbers to contribute their share to new cryptocurrency projects as fast as possible, without verifying whether they are investing into authenticated Crypto firm.

“Large phishing groups are capable of stealing around $1 million every month.”

With the evolving technology, the Cryptocurrency hackers are also getting more knowledgeable and are constantly improving their skills. The IB has recorded many issues involving theft in the investor’s database by hackers who blackmail Cryptocurrency holders by stealing their sensitive financial information.

Cryptocurrency Fraudsters are even making fake websites having cryptocurrency project descriptions and plagiarized whitepapers. Once they have people investing in the project after launching a fake ICO, they tend to disappear with investor funds.

“Automated phishing and use of ‘phishing-kits’ will become more mainstream resulting for the attacks on ICOs.”

The IB also claims that if these hackers are increasingly using the trial and error method to force into the cryptocurrency network but their success rate has been poor. But if the instances of the attacks are increased it will surely shoot up their success rate and they might gain complete control over the cryptocurrency and its transactions.

In the year 2017, 51% of failed attacks were detected, but they are now ramping up their attempts in huge numbers. In the first half of 2018, 5 successful attacks were carried out targeting direct financial losses within the range of $0.55 million to $18 million.

So Blockchain Technology was known to be secure, but is it truly secure? The technology is secure but we must accept the fact that it is developed by humans and there will be some loopholes left unplugged in this technology. The Hackers or IB would help us to make it 100% secure sooner or later. So think wisely before you invest into the Blockchain Network!

Malta: Europe’s First Blockchain Island?

0

Malta which is an archipelago in the Mediterranean located between Sicily and the North African coast is rapidly turning into an international hub for entrepreneurs who are into Blockchain business. But reports have made it clear that two out of three applicants were not able to clear the licensing exam for starting up businesses which are related to cryptocurrencies. This exam was conducted by Malta’s Institute of Financial Service Practitioners.

Also, the Times of Malta reported the following event,

There were fewer number of applicants who passed the exam even after Malta’s Institute of Financial Service Practitioners made last-minute alterations to the marking scheme to pump up the number of licenses it could allot to the applicants.

It is clearly mentioned in Malta’s new Virtual Finances Assets Act that it is mandatory for cryptocurrency and blockchain businesses to have a valid license in order to shell out initial coin offerings (ICOs), build capital, or trade digital assets.

There is a procedure involved to acquire license where applicants have to complete a short duration course where they will be trained. They will also have to answer a set of multiple choice questions framed by the MFSA. Only then they will be eligible to get a license and establish their Businesses.

It has been revealed by some sources that the applicants have found those multiple choice questions a bit too difficult to answer. Numbers which were known about the applicants had 250 lawyers, auditors, and accountants had appeared for the exam in September. But only 39 percent were able to clear the exam, which certainly doesn’t look like good numbers.

The results look like they have messed up plans of Malta government to transform Malta into a ‘Blockchain island,’ as the regulators will not be able to grant more than 100 licenses to the applicants in the first batch.

Everyone in the cryptocurrency community was aware of Malta’s approach to cryptocurrency regulation. This made it successful to attract major cryptocurrency exchanges like Binance and Zebpay. It is crystal clear that the Malta government still hasn’t found a solution to implement the cryptocurrency industry in an efficient and reliable way.

Blockchain startups might need to study more about their own business to clear the exam to get a valid license to operate in Malta.

All of the Blockchain firms are seeing a high potential & maximum benefit in Malta, so let’s see how the second batch would perform in the next exam. Stay tuned for more information on Blockchain Technology as we cover every news in this domain for our readers.

Realme C1: Best Budget Phone in 2018

0

Oppo owned Realme brand has launched 4 smartphones this year in India, of which Realme 1 was launched in May, after that the company launched Realme 2, then the Realme launched two new smartphones which included Realme 2 Pro and Realme C1 in August and in September respectively. Out of these, this article is about the Realme C1 review where we’ll find out how good Realme’s cheapest smartphone is in every aspect?

Realme C1’s Specifications and Price:

Realme C1 has a 6.2-inch HD Plus display with a resolution of 1520×720 pixels. The aspect ratio of the display is 19: 9 and there is also Corning Gorilla Glass protection on the display. The weight of the phone is 168 grams and it has Android Oreo 8.1 based color operating system. Also this phone has 2 GB RAM and 16 GB storage which can be expanded up to 256 GB with the help of SD card. Apart from this, Realme C1 has an Octacore Snapdragon 450 processor in it which powers this phone.

Talking about the Realme C1 camera, this phone has a dual-rear camera (13 + 2 megapixel) and a 5-megapixel front camera. This phone has a 4230mAh battery and for connectivity, it has features like Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Face Unlock, Bluetooth V4.2. Realme C1 has a hybrid sim tray where Memory card can be used together with two sims in it. The three slots will meet in the same tray. The price of this phone is INR 6,999 which is under the Diwali offer and after that, the price may be increased but it will remain within the INR 10,000 margin.

Realme C1’s Design:

Realme is making it to the headlines for special Diamond Cut design right from its first phone Realme 1. The company has not provided a diamond design on Realme C1, but the design of the phone still looks excellent. The phone is not too heavy and not too thick. In this way, you will not have any problem while using the phone, although due to the body made up of glass, the phone easily slides off your hand. So, we will recommend you to use the phone with some sort of case or skin. However, the company also gives you a plastic cover in the box along with adapter, micro USB cable and SIM card ejector which is great. In this case, there is no need to buy a cover for the phone.

The power button on the right and the volume rockers are on the left side of the phone. The SIM card slot is present right above the volume buttons. The fingerprint sensor is absent on the Realme C1 which I probably did not like. In return, the company has given a Fast Face Unlock feature. On the bottom side, we have a Micro USB charging port right in the middle and the speaker on its left side and headphone jack on the right side which is of 3.5mm. Talking about the back panel, there is a dual rear camera setup in the left corner and the flashlight beside it.

Realme C1’s Display:

As far as Realme C1’s display is concerned, you will love the display. Especially during watching videos, the image quality and pixel representation look way too beautiful. The viewing angle is great too. In such a situation, if two people watch videos together on the same phone then they will not need to change the angle for a better view of the screen contents. The auto brightness level given for display works great. The brightness of the display in the sun is automatically adjusted in the auto-mode. On the display, you get the Notch. In Realme C1, physical home and back buttons have not been given following the market trends. The phone has gesture controls for the purpose of navigation.

Realme C1’s Camera:

Realme C1 has a dual rear camera setup with one lens of 13 megapixels and the secondary lens is of 5 megapixels. You get Flashlight with the rear camera. The front camera is 5 megapixels. The front camera is powered by Artificial Intelligence and has Beauty mode. Also, you get a timer to click the HDR and photo from the front camera. At the same time, you can also click selfies with a hand gesture which is another cool feature in this phone.

You do not get zooming in and out options in the front camera. With the help of both the rear and front camera, you can do full HD video recording. As far as the performance of the Realme C1 camera is concerned, the rear camera comes with a good background blur. Realme C1’s rear camera zoom is not that good as you would expect it to be. The company needs to work on it. The contrast in the photo is a bit more noticeable. Low light photography is average. Overall, the Realme C1 camera will not disappoint you in the range of INR 6,999. The Face Unlock function in the front camera works amazingly fast.

Check out some of the camera samples below which were shot on Realme C1:

Overall Performance and Battery Backup of Realme C1:

When it comes to performance testing with respect to gaming, the phone does not get hot during gaming and charging. During gaming, there was no lag felt on this phone. The huge 4230mAh battery given in this phone takes more than 3:30 hours to be fully charged. Even after watching two movies in Auto Brightness mode on YouTube, 22 percent of the battery was left in the phone. So you do not have to worry about the battery backup. If you are an average user then the battery will easily last for more than 1 day. Overall, if you are looking for a cheap smartphone that has a great build quality and a great processor with a classy design, you can buy Realme C1. One thing is for sure that this phone will not disappoint you in this budget segment.

Some suggestion for Realme manufacturers:

There is also a problem with this phone that there is no option to swipe down the notification. For example, you are playing a game on a phone or watching a movie or video, and at the same time a notification comes, you can not delete that notification. Notifications will automatically be lost in a few seconds. The company needs to consider this notification issue as it spoils user experience. Another problem with notification is that you can not hide the notification by swiping down the notification panel. Either you have to delete all the notifications or if you want to delete one of the notifications, you will get two options. One setting and the second delete. It should be that there should be an option to delete notifications just by swiping once.

Apart from that, the phone seems to me like a good buy for the price tag it has. So if you running low on budget, you should choose this device as it is worth your money.

Honor 8X: AI Camera, 91% Screen-To-Body Ratio And Much More

0

The handset maker Huawei’s Brand Honor will launch its mid-range smartphone Honor 8X this month. Honor 8X will be an upgraded version of Honor 7X, which was launched last year. In the camera department of the new Honor 8X, you will get vertical dual rear camera setup on the back side. When it comes to SOC, Kirin 710 chipset has been used in the Honor 8X for catering speed and multitasking. This handset brand will compete with Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 5 Pro and Nokia’s 6.1 Plus. It is expected that the price of Honor 8X would be around $250. So will the Honor 8X benefit the customers who are looking forward to buying it? Let’s answer the question and know about its specifications and features.

Honor 8X Design and Specifications:

Honor 8X offers a premium look and it also has a strong built quality. Its design is so appealing, it is clearly indicating that it is not falling in the budget segment and will cost more than $220. A dual-tone color scheme is used on the back panel on this device. Honor 8X has a 6.5 inch (1080×2340 pixels) IPS LCD display whose aspect ratio is 19.5:9. The bezels on the sides look very neat to me and they make the phone look more beautiful.

The chin of Honor 8X is significantly thinner than Honor 9N and Honor Play. No buttons are present at the bottom which enables you to easily use any of the options on-screen or EMUI gestures. On the left side of the phone, there is a sim-tray (two Nano SIM and MicroSD card slot). On the right side, we have the power button and volume buttons. At the bottom, you have a loudspeaker, 3.5mm headphone jack, primary microphone, and micro-USB port. At this price, the company has decided not to give the USB-Type C charging port. The secondary microphone has been placed on the top of the phone.

Honor 8X camera:

Vertical dual rear camera setup for photography can be seen on the back side of this phone. There is a 20-megapixel primary sensor with aperture F / 1.8 and 2-megapixel depth sensor. A 16-megapixel front camera is provided to take crisp selfies and for the purpose of video calling. Honor 8X rear and front camera are AI-powered which seems to cope with the on-going AI trend. You can also use the AI feature as per your convenience or even turn it off.

Honor 8X Software:

The Honor 8X comes with EMUI 8.2 which is based on Android 8.1 Oreo. The company has not yet announced when the phone will get the Android 9.0 Pie software update but we hope sooner or late it will arrive. The number of pre-installed apps bloatware in the Honor brand’s smartphone has been reduced. Applications like Facebook, Facebook Messenger, Lords Mobile, Phone Manager, HiCare, AppGallery, Health, Netflix, Camera 360, Honor Club, Party Mode, and Ride Mode might not come pre-installed anymore. In addition to that Google Apps such as Gmail, Google Maps, YouTube, Google Drive, and Google Photos apps may or may not exist. Honor claims that PUBG game can be easily played on the Honor 8X on the medium graphics setting.

Honor 8X other features:

There is a fingerprint sensor and face unlock feature. We found the fingerprint sensor to be amazingly fast and accurate. The Face Unlock feature works even faster, but there is a slight problem while using it in low light. The smartphone has a feature which enhances the brightness of the screen in low light so that your face can be recognized correctly.
