Was Life Better without Technology?

0

Technology is something which is unborn, it is something that I found and cannot imagine my life without, because the world would be like an empty, dark, and cold place. Technology had made people’s life easier and more productive. Although technology impacts us in many ways. It can be also negative and dangerous but at the same time, it improves our standard of living life also. And it challenges humans to develop and exercise the finest bodily movements of which they are capable. Technology is at the intersection of so many currents and disciplines that the literature has become boundless in its extent. For the pursuit of a better quality of life, some reliance on innovation is unavoidable. In our lives today are cell phones which are now considered a show of civilization, which has increased dependency on the ongoing technologies.

Productivity improvements are the key impact of technological change. Doing more with more with less is the central objective of applying to all the factors of production: land, labor, energy and raw materials. Only with a long-term historical view, we can grasp that the productivity increases due to the continuous technological change over 200 years. The sources of these productivity increases are diverse and defy any simplifying summary.

Increased diversity as a result of the technological change is continually counterbalanced by another tendency of technological change: standardization. Product and process innovations increase diversity, but the push to increase standardization. The balance may well change in the near future in the age of new information technologies. Technologies interact deeply with society and culture, but the interactions involve mutual influence, substantial uncertainty, and historical ambiguity, eliciting, resistance, accommodation, acceptance and even enthusiasm. In an effort to capture these fluid relations, we adopt the notion of co-construction.

In compelling ways, airports combine transportation, production, and consumption, activities that we usually think of as being conducted in railroad factories and stores. Technology, then, its relationship with modernity, is not only symbol making and culture-changing but also in the infrastructure of daily life, society constituting. Technological advancements have changed human life throughout history as technical inventions have emancipated people from many mundane, necessary tasks.

The development of technical artifacts has long relied on the natural sciences and engineering. However, recent technical advancements—such as ubiquitous and multifunctional technologies as well as the emergence of social media—have made it necessary to approach design from a multidisciplinary perspective and to ground design thinking more on the understanding of human mind and human life. As the natural sciences and human-research are in many respects different practices, it is time to discuss their mutually inclusive roles in design and to rethink the foundations of (and relationship between) scientific and design thinking. Information from the Census Bureau tells us that 15% of homes had a personal computer in 1989; by 2011 that number climbed to 75%. Now we have desktop computers, laptops, smartphones, tablets, Apple watches, GPS-enabled cars, and more coming every day. Forget unplugging after the 5 or-6 o’clock whistle blows—we plug in instead.

Anyone born before the advent of technology in their daily lives is considered a “digital immigrant.” Older generations invented our tech-enabled society, but the generations born in this millennium are the first true “digital natives.”

While the “digital rehab” programs older generations have begun using to push back against the all-consuming digital saturation are gaining traction, these programs may make as much sense to younger generations as getting up from the couch to change the channel on the TV. The genie is out of the bottle, and technology is said to have even changed the way younger generations perceive reality.

We’re assuming they perceive reality as that thing happening just beyond the horizon of their laptop, tablet, or smartphone screen (as long as someone is tweeting about it). Although it’s easy to make fun of the next generation’s digital obsession, it will soon be impossible to ignore it. The digital natives are on pace to outnumber the digital immigrants before long.

Technology is just as beneficial as it is destructive to the human race. On the overall, technology is more beneficial than destruction. As long as the government and other regulatory bodies play their roles in ensuring that security is not compromised and that people’s freedom is not trampled, technology will continue to benefit humankind.

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Price, Features, Camera & Battery.

0

People who are achievers, who are into Business or those who demand more & more from their Smartphones, are actually looking for a phone which is smart in the true sense. Samsung has caught hold of this concern & the new Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Specification is indeed super powerful to cater extensive needs of people. In simple words, I’d say that the new Samsung Galaxy Note 9 features will be successful in bridging the gap between Smartphones & Personal Computer.

https://cnt.mobisium.com/wp-content/uploads/5.png

Does this phone have a brilliant design & vibrant display?

The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 has largest Infinity display ever which is of 6.4″. Such a huge screen size would be difficult to use initially but you can get used to it as it gets old. The phone features a virtually bezel-less display which makes the phone look more Premium. The screen surface is way too smooth to use the new S-pen upon it. It has glass finish on the front & back side which looks very rich when we hold it. It looks smooth but does not slip out of hands.

As we have the glass finish for the Samsung Galaxy Note 9, the phone gets smudges but I think the cover will take care of it. The edges & corners look very sharp & they too add to the beauty of the phone. The phone has Antenna lines which are designed pretty neatly. It has the Bixby assistant key on the left along with volume buttons & the Lock button on the right side.

The headphone jack is at the bottom on the left of the USB C-type charging port which is at the centre. On the right side at the bottom, we have the speakers & the microphone.

You can enjoy watching movies or any other tasks on your phone indoors as well as under bright sunlight with ease. The front & the back have been redesigned beautifully &  you can avail the new Samsung Galaxy Note 9 in the calm Ocean Blue colour or the mesmerising Lavender Purple colour. Apart from these, it might be available in Midnight Black, Brown & Metallic Copper.

https://cnt.mobisium.com/wp-content/uploads/2-1.png

What else do we want when it comes to Performance & Battery?

The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is powered with Snapdragon 845 SOC but Samsung would release the same device with Exynos 9810 SOC in the Indian Smartphone Market. The phone has a massive inbuilt storage capacity of 128 GB along with 6 GB of RAM. Such architecture makes this phone capable of delivering high-speed quality Performance every single time. There is one more variant available which has 8 GB of RAM & 512 GB of Internal Storage. The internal storage on this phone can be extended to 1 TB which is an exclusive feature of this phone.

https://cnt.mobisium.com/wp-content/uploads/8.png

The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 has Dolby Atmos Stereo Speakers which enhances the gaming experience on this phone & takes it to whole another level. The phone has a cooling system in-built which takes care of the device when it heats up while doing extensive tasks like gaming. This ensures a smooth gameplay with minimum lag & maximum performance.

We also have LED notification light on the front side. The phone is water & dust resistant along with Biometric Authentication. All in all the phone is very promising in terms of Performance. The Samsung Note 9 battery is as huge as 4000 mAh which Samsung claims will easily last for a day. With quick charging ability, the phone charges within no time. The phone has wireless charging facility & you have to buy that accessory separately.

Do we really have a promising Camera on the Samsung Galaxy Note 9?

Yes, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 has Dual-lens camera of 12-megapixel each coupled with Dual Aperture which takes amazing videos & photos. The front camera on this phone is of 8-megapixels which works fine too. The camera needs to be responsive in nature so that users can make the best use of it. The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 camera has been enabled to do the same. The camera has loads of improved features like Flaw detection tool which autocorrects blurred images & eye blink in the captured images. It notifies users to clean lens time to time if it has smudges on it. It also supports AR Emoji, Super Slo-Mo Mode, Portrait Mode & various other functions which make the camera most efficient than ever before.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 camera is placed horizontally in the same way as it was in the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. One thing to appreciate here is that there is no camera bump on the backside. The Camera is exceptional and it takes really good photos in Day Light as well as in the night. This camera can record 4k videos at 60fps, and super slow-motion video at 960fps in High Definition. Usual slow-motion videos can also be recorded at 240fps, in full High Definition. The video stabilization works great on this phone & all the photos, videos take on the Samsung Note seems to be error free.

More & more about the new Samsung Galaxy Note 9 S-pen!

The most intelligent tool which takes the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 way ahead in the race is the new S-Pen. The new S-pen supports Bluetooth & it can be used to take snaps, switch between rear & front camera, can be used as a remote to operate presentation, pause Youtube videos & many other custom tasks. The new S-pen is simply impressive & it would surely impress all of its users.

What is Samsung Dex?

This feature of the new Samsung Galaxy Note 9 enables you to transform your Smartphone into a PC like experience which makes you enjoy your workload. It proves to be helpful in many ways as you have a full desktop at your disposal.

Talking about the Final Verdict…

Coming to the conclusion, we can expect the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 price to be somewhere around 70k in India. But I personally think any price tag would be appropriate for this phone for the exclusive features it offers. If you are using the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 & do not need to use the Samsung Dex feature, you should not upgrade to the Samsung Note 9.

This phone is surely worth the buy but if you have some financial restrictions, you can go for Samsung Galaxy Note 8. But if you are willing to spend more, you can buy the Samsung Galaxy Note 9.

Do you really need more RAM? -The Android Ram Conspiracy

0

Android RAM usage has always been the topic of hot competition for manufacturers and they have always tried giving more and more RAM.

So the smartphone industry is progressing and we are building apps that need more ram and we are multitasking and all the associated explanations. But, I feel that the for smartphones, the RAM market is extremely overhyped and there are too many misconceptions associated. Let us have a look at some of them and hopefully, by the end of this article, you might have seen some new angles of the Android RAM conspiracy.

More Free RAM?

Now, this is something that has always hit my nerves. I see a lot of Gadget reviewers, even the most respected ones often talk about the available RAM that they get.

So a common notion is, that more free RAM is better. I recall this video I was watching, where a YouTuber showed us 2 devices where both had the same amount of RAM and one of them was running stock android and the other had MIUI.

And that person cleared all recent apps to check the amount of free ram available and declared the device running stock android a clear winner.  I was seriously shocked. How could someone in their right frame of mind compare the RAM availability of 2 devices that have completely different ROMs?

When a device runs stock android only has to run the core operating system so it can have free memory lying around. But a device that uses a custom skin like MIUI will probably use the available ram to store some cache data that it feels is important.

Or it could be running extra features and services that are needed to run those features. So it wouldn’t be sensible to judge a device just by comparing the amount of free ram that it has.

Using less RAM saves battery.

A lot of people have this feeling that if they use fewer apps, they will be using less ram and thereby they will elongate their battery. So I often see a lot of people clearing up their recent apps. This is not needed at all. The reason here is that a RAM is an electronic component. It needs a certain amount of power to function. So it doesn’t really matter if you use just 1% or 100% of the total ram available. The power consumption is going to be the same. At least with respect to RAM.

Isn’t having more RAM, better?

By all means, it is. But so is having a phone with 10 SIM-card slots, or 2 headphone jacks. It would be great. But would you really need it ?.

There is absolutely no problem in getting more RAM with your device but having to pay a ridiculous extra sum of money just for the extra RAM may not be the best trade deal in the history of trade deals, maybe ever.

More RAM is the way to go.

We already know how these manufacturers are trying to sell users into the idea that more ram is good. They even sell different RAM variants of the same device. This is being written in April 2018 so let me give you an example from today. The Redmi Note 5 Pro sells its 4 GB RAM variant for 14 thousand rupees and its 6 GB RAM variant for 17 thousand.

Now I am not against usage of more ram but just think about why you would want to spend 3 thousand extra just to get that extra RAM that you probably won’t even use.

I am not saying an additional 3 thousand is too much to ask for 2 extra Gigs of Ram but I just feel for a phone in that segment it would have been more sensible to either give true support for fast charging or some other feature than simply giving 2 GB of ram that isn’t even helpful to the device.

I mean seriously, how many of you would actually exhaust the 4 Gigs of RAM and have more apps that need RAM. So I just feel that the idea that more RAM is better has been built up by these manufacturers and it doesn’t hold too much ground.

What do you think about this? Let me know in the comments section below.

Moto e5 Plus Camera Sample List – Genuine Camera Review

0

Moto e5 Plus Camera Sample is the sole evidence of how good the camera quality is of this phone. This sample has a list of photos taken from this device. The Moto e5 Plus has a rear camera of 12 MP & a front camera of 5 MP with selfie flash.

The pictures lack true colours & the images have a white colour tinge to them when exposed to light. The intensity of whiteness level increases with the amount of light falling on the object increases. So genuinely speaking the camera is good but fails to be great.

So you can notice in the above pictures, the subject remains the same but the pictures have a vast difference in terms of intensity of light & colour tones. You better posses good photography skills to adapt to the Moto e5 Plus camera or else you’ll be highly disappointed by the snaps you take using this phone.

Moto e5 Plus vs Xiaomi Redmi Y2: The Ultimate Winner Is?

0

The Moto e5 Plus & Xiaomi Redmi Y2 were recently launched in the Indian Smartphone Market. They have already secured a place for themselves in the top 10 low budget phones of 2018. Both these phones are exceptional with respect to their specific aspects but let’s compile Moto e5 Plus vs Xiaomi Redmi Y2 & see which one is better.

Design & Display ( Moto e5 Plus vs Xiaomi Redmi Y2 )

The Moto e5 Plus has an exceptionally good design with 3D Polymer Glass back which looks classy. The wavy design looks more than perfect with the camera placed perfectly inside the ring. The ring design is a special feature of the Moto’s design but the camera looks like it has a dual lens. It’s not! There’s single camera lens accompanied by Autofocus sensor with flash at the bottom.

When we look at the design of Redmi Y2, it looks ordinary & doesn’t look as impressive as we have on the Moto e5 Plus. The built material used is Polycarbonate which looks & feels like plastic which looks cheap. The camera has been placed vertically which is a very common design in today’s smartphones.

The Moto e5 Plus & Redmi Y2 have 6″ & 5.99″ of HD Display which does not differ much from each other. The Fingerprint scanner is intelligently placed inside the Moto logo on the Moto e5 plus while its a normal scanner on the rear on Redmi Y2. So in the design & display aspect, the Moto e5 Plus is a clear winner.

Camera ( Moto e5 Plus vs Xiaomi Redmi Y2 )

Following Table shows what do the cameras of both the phones have for the users.

Camera Moto e5 Plus Xiaomi Redmi Y2
Rear 12MP 12MP+5MP
Front 5MP/8MP 16MP
Selfie Flash Yes Yes
Depth Sensor No Yes
Manual Mode No Yes

Camera Samples

Looking at the camera samples, you can easily figure out the Redmi Y2 has far better Camera than the Moto e5 Plus. The edge detection works perfectly on the Redmi Y2 & it takes good photos in the daylight. So for me, Redmi Y2 surely deserves a point over the Moto e5 Plus when it comes to the camera quality.

Battery ( Moto e5 Plus vs Xiaomi Redmi Y2 )

The Moto e5 Plus has a huge battery of 5000 mAh & it easily lasts for more than two days on average usage. Even after heavy usage, it lasted for more than one and a half day which is worth appreciating. The Redmi Y2 has 3080 mAh battery which is obviously inferior to the Moto e5 Plus. The Redmi Y2 battery survives through the day for average users but for heavy usage, you might need to charge it around evening.

Both the phones run on Android Oreo but the Moto e5 Plus has near stock android whereas the Redmi Y2 has MIUI. This is why the Moto e5 Plus feels relatively easier to use. On comparing battery & UI, Moto e5 takes one leap ahead of the Redmi Y2.

Performance ( Moto e5 Plus vs Xiaomi Redmi Y2 )

Specs. Moto e5 Plus Redmi Y2
Processor Snapdragon 425 Snapdragon 625
RAM 3GB 3GB
Internal Memory 32GB 32GB

It’s 2018 & I wonder why Moto e5 Plus has the old Snapdragon 425 processor which I feel is outdated. The Redmi Y2 comes with comes with Snapdragon 625 which is far more faster than the Moto e5 Plus.

The processing speed is high on the Redmi Y2 & you can feel the difference if you use heavy apps on both the devices simultaneously. So the Redmi Y2 stands ahead of Moto e5 Plus in terms of Performance.

Cost & Conclusion ( Moto e5 Plus vs Xiaomi Redmi Y2 )

The price of the phone is the deciding factor for me. The Moto e5 Plus is priced at INR 11,999 & the Redmi Y2 costs INR 9,999. It’s surely convincing that the Redmi Y2 lacks bigger battery, stock android & unique design like the Moto e5 Plus. But it does have a good camera, better performance & supports lag-free gaming, for me, Redmi Y2 is the winner in this race.

So Redmi Y2 is the best buy when compared with the Moto e5 Plus any given day.

Xiaomi Mi A2 About to Launch in India – First Look and Specifications

0

Xiaomi Mi A2 was recently launched in Spain this week. I am 100%  sure this device is going to make a huge impact when it will be launched in the Smartphone Market in India. The Google’s Pixel 2, Samsung S9 & few other phones which are high-end devices have Android One OS on them. The user experience of these phones is completely next level & the Mi A2 also has Android One on it. This made me curious to gather as much information as I could about the  Xiaomi Mi A2, following is the information I have about this phone.

Xiaomi Mi A2 Design & Display:

The Mi A2 has thin bezels which make the phone look modern. The rear side looks similar to the Redmi Y2 with fingerprint scanner & dual camera lens which is placed vertically. This makes the Xiaomi Mi A2 look similar to the iPhone X. The Antenna bands on the top & bottom have been designed beautifully. The display on Xiaomi Mi A2 has 5.99″ of HD display but it’s not as bright as you’d expect it to be.

Xiaomi seems to have put in extra efforts to keep the phone slim. The phone has little above 7mm with smooth curves. This makes the users feel comfortable to get their hands on the Mi A2. I don’t have precise knowledge but I think the Xiaomi Mi A2 will be available in Gold, Blue & Black color. Lastly, the metal body will not fail to make a place for itself in your heart.

Xiaomi Mi A2 Camera:

The Mi A2 camera has huge advancements & it looks very promising. We get 12MP & 20MP camera’s on the rear side & 20MP selfie camera. Both the cameras are AI-powered using which they deliver pictures of great quality. We’d explore more about the camera’s on the  Mi A2 when its available in India & we get one for us.

Mi has worked hard to make the camera capable of taking good pictures in low light using good quality sensors. Using the Beautify software, the  Mi A2 enhances picture quality & makes them look real. There’s a lot more to talk about the Xiaomi Mi A2 camera but readers will have to wait for a while.

Xiaomi Mi A2 Specifications:

The knowledge about RAM & internal memory on the Mi A2 till the date is that it will have 2 variants. One would be 4GB RAM with 64GB internal Storage & the other is 6GB RAM with 128GB of storage capacity.

Conclusion:

The phone is available for $330 which I think is the right price for the improvements made to the new Mi A2. I will have a better conclusion with strong justification about this phone after I get my hands on this phone. For now, whatever you have read & seen will surely grow your interest in the Xiaomi’s Mi A2 which will be available in the Indian Smartphone market on August 8.

MIUI 10 : The AI Powered Mobile OS

0

What makes a human being evolved as the most intelligent animal on the Planet Earth? It is intelligence. Intelligence is built upon the mountains of experience from our ancestors to the present generation & it is continually evolving.  Xiaomi has introduced their new MIUI 10 with a tagline ‘Refreshing your senses’. Xiaomi is putting their homegrown machine learning to test with their current phone lineups.

With the latest integration of AI into phone’s multiple functions might make Xiaomi future ready! Nowadays, Xiaomi has been manufacturing most of their devices in the aspect ratio of 18:9, so does their software team is working with the hardware & playing more with it to provide better user experience & enhancing the existing hardware capabilities. I think this is what software developers do, they enhance the capability of the existing hardware.

MIUI 10

New Recent Apps Panel

New Recent Apps in vertical mode gives more space to work

Xiaomi a market leader in India has created an ultimate user experience by revamping their UI with MIUI 10. Xiaomi itself has declared that their latest MIUI 10 update is specifically ‘Designed for full-screen experience’. With several devices launched with taller displays, Xiaomi working hard to utilize the taller screens for Recent Apps & boosting the overall flexibility for the user to access recent apps more easily & improving the overall multi-tasking capability of users. With taller displays, Xiaomi intelligently introduced the vertical app scrolling is better utilizing the taller display & I must say, the apps look clearer in this style. You can easily switch between apps & also get the better look into where you actually left the particular app last time. The vertical card style may become a new trend in the coming months I guess.

Gestures

New Gestures introduced oin MIUI 10

With new gesture feature, the user’s convenience has increased, because gestures have been a great inclusion in MIUI 10 providing reliability to the users (while multi-tasking) as well as lowering the dependencies on taskbar buttons. They are creating Industry Trends as well as fulfilling the user’s demands.

Read our comparison of EMUI & MIUI here.

AI Preload

With machine learning, Xiaomi is integrating AI into the core to analyze app usage pattern of the user to make apps load faster than ever. The company has claimed that it has significantly reduced the app load time & cut down to almost zero. Xiaomi has already boosted the performance of recent app launch time through MIUI 9 & now they are using next level of optimization i.e. AI. Xiaomi Team doing really great work in this sector.

Revamped Notification Panel

New Notification Panel

One thing Xiaomi user will notice quickly is the new Revamped Notification Panel. Xiaomi has greatly improved their notification center & the improvements are really great. The UI looks clean & minimalism is at the core of design. New brightness scroll looks similar to iOS but the only difference here is, it is horizontal instead of iOS’s default vertical cylindrical bar.

AI Portraits

Portrait Mode - Rear Camera

Xiaomi has been experimenting with AI for quite a while & they have introduced AI-powered selfie in the camera app. Now, AI can blur the background giving you to capture your photo in a portrait mode. It works well on single camera phones too. Xiaomi has made this feature available to all eligible users.

Portrait Mode - Back Camera

Xiaomi’s Voice Assistant for China Mainland

Xiaomi has launched their own Voice Assistant but it is typically focused on Chinese consumer base. We have been informed that Xiaomi has no plan to introduce it to the global audience. We have used Xiaomi Voice Assistant & it has a really pleasant & audible voice yet due to language restrictions we were unable to test its features.

PIP mode & Password Autofill

Xiaomi has been finally providing PIP, through which I can use my Google Maps while multi-tasking. PIP has really great productivity quotient as this enables you to perform other tasks simultaneously. With latest & in-built Autofill feature you can fill out the login credentials inside any app. There is no need to remember or copy-paste tedious passwords, you just need to give Xiaomi access to your credentials.

Improved Screen Recording

Xiaomi won many hearts by providing inbuilt screen recording tool but it was lacking one very specific feature, which was recording System Sound. With MIUI 10 you can finally able to record the System Sound without rooting your phone which wasn’t the case until MIUI 9.
Xiaomi MIUI 10 has some new feature in MIUI Lab. To try out some experimental features such as Super Resolution & Car Mode.

With the brand new App manager feature, we as a user has been offered more powers to behold the controls on the device storage usage. As well as the UI is compelling. We are also looking at the newly introduced Fonts section which currently holds no other fonts than the default one. Also, we encountered a feature called as QuickPay from Xiaomi which only supports WeChat but we are expecting more integration with major payment platforms in India.

Other features we spotted in MIUI 10 includes following New Sound & Ambient Noises of nature.

TRAI vs Apple: Will iPhones Die in 6 Months?

0

Being an iPhone user for the last 10 years, I used to feel that while buying a Smartphone, Laptop or a Tablet, the only brand I’d trust is Apple. But today when I heard about the TRAI vs Apple conflict, it seems like this belief is about to shatter. The reason behind this is the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India(TRAI) & Apple have met each other face to face on crossroads regarding the issue of using DND 2.0 app on iPhones. The DND 2.0 App has been developed by TRAI.

TRAI claims that this application will help users to block spam messages & report them by accessing the Messages on the device. The purpose seems to be helpful but for Apple, it looks like compromising on the security aspect of their devices. The DND 2.0 app seems to be running on the Android Platform for a long time now. But since this app is a third party app, Apple has kept it away from its App Store. This is because Apple usually doesn’t prefer to mingle a lot with third-party applications.

Timeline of the events – ‘TRAI vs Apple’

TRAI has introduced ‘Telecom commercial communications customer preference regulations, 2018’ earlier this week. It has made it clear that it will no longer identify the phones which prohibit installation of the Government’s DND 2.0 app. Since then the ‘TRAI vs Apple’ war is seen in the news very often.

On what basis TRAI has made this statement?

In the list of regulations, a law has been framed which says “Provided that where such devices do not permit functioning of such Apps as prescribed in regulations 6(2)(e) and regulations 23(2)(d), Access Providers shall, on the order or direction of the Authority, derecognize such devices from their telecom networks”.

This is why TRAI has been looking forward to shutting down the Apple iPhones. If they don’t comply with the DND 2.0 app to work on them & deny access to the messages, iPhones might go down soon.

What’s next?

In such a scenario, the Company which is in the conflict gets 6 months of time to settle this issue before the Authority brings down its devices. So Apple now has a window of 6 months in which it has to make required changes in its iOS or roll out new iOS, most probably iOS 12. If they are successful in doing the same, DND 2.0 might feature on the App store & your iPhone will continue to work.

If Apple fails to do so, TRAI might get into the action & go by the rules. All of the Apple community lets keep our fingers crossed & hope that Apple resolves this deadlock in its next iOS update. A solution to this problem will help the millions iPhone user’s in India to use their iPhones without any discontinuity.

A timely update on all the happenings in this conflict, ‘TRAI vs Apple’ will be provided in upcoming blogs.

Redmi Y2: Full Specifications, Battery & Camera Review

0

Xiaomi India’s Leading Smartphone seller has created a masterpiece in the most popular price segment of 10K. With Redmi Y2 you are getting unbelievable features that make the Smartphone war tougher. Xiaomi with its never-ending smartphone line has come up with another winning smartphone. With people already queuing up in the Xiaomi Stores across India to purchase the device is an evidence that Xiaomi has just touched the very right cord of Indian Consumers.

Design:

Let’s have a look at the device design. It looks a lot like the Redmi S2, which the company recently launched in the Chinese market. It has a 5.99-inch display. Redmi Y2 has made up in Plastic material, unlike Xiaomi’s Note Series. Due to the larger display, you have to shuffle device in hand to reach out the corners of the screen. The device has round shaped edges which brings more grip to the smartphone & comfort to hold the device. Yet it is slippery in some situations. The power and the volume buttons that are positioned on the right. At the bottom of the device, either side has grills but only the right grills hold the powerful speaker. At the center, you will find the USB port for the dual purpose of charging & data transfer. A dual camera setup and a fingerprint scanner at the back are placed perfectly. You can also see the antenna lines on the top.

Specs & Display:

Xiaomi has released two variants of the phone first which is priced at INR 9,999/- houses 3GB of RAM along with 32GB onboard storage & INR 12,999/- variant holds 4GB RAM with 64 GB internal storage which can be expanded to 256 GB on both the variants. The Redmi Y2 is powered by the Snapdragon 625 SoC, which is an octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz. The 5.99-inch display sports an HD+ resolution of 720×1440 pixels and an 18:9 aspect ratio has really immersive gaming & video watching experience. The Redmi Y2 is a dual-SIM device with two Nano-SIM slots and has a non-removable 3080mAh battery. There is support for Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPS, 4G, and VoLTE.

Following the modern day lock-up trends of devices, Xiaomi has introduced the Face Unlock feature which is quite impressive looking at the price tag. I found it very useful especially in the crowded places where we can’t even go for the fingerprint, face lock helps in many ways. It is slightly slower yet manageable. Also, Face lock is not that accurate. In the little dark room, face unlocks become useless. But for the convenience, I would strongly suggest going for it.

Software & Performance:

In AnTuTu, it managed to score 75,664, and also 844 and 4204 in Geekbench’s single-core and multi-core tests respectively.

To test the game performance, we installed NFS No Limits & PUBG for Mobile. After numerous plays of NFS No Limits the initial lag while loading the game at the launch was quite slow but as soon as it holds the hardware grip it started working as smooth as butter. With no lags & super quick response this is heaven for Gamers. As I have tested most popular games. So it should be applicable to the most of gaming experience on Android.

Xiaomi has installed a few apps in addition to the usual set of Mi Apps that we are now used to. You get a few Google apps preinstalled, along with Facebook, Amazon, PhonePe, Netflix, and NewsPoint. While storage isn’t a major constraint as you get close to 22GB of free space with the 32GB variant, you can still go ahead and uninstall most of these apps. Still, bloatware is a huge NO for many tech geeks like me but a good addition considering the normal audiences.

Camera:

Today everyone from kids to even our grandparents loves to take selfies on many occasions, Xiaomi Redmi Y2 integrates AI into cameras to bring the best out of your selfies. Both (Rear & Back) are intelligent to detect single as well as multiple faces in the frame & apply all the necessary beautification enhancements to everyone equally & neatly.

Low light camera struggle somewhat but it takes excellent photos in daylight as well as has great color combinations which keep the simplicity of natural beauty. What I like most about the cameras are that in the daylight whatever you capture looks actually similar to what you can see through your own eyes. The camera has better combinations of overall beautification features & pro camera features.

Battery:

With not big juicy battery as Moto e5 Plus, Redmi Y2 comes up with 3080 mAh battery which lasts for long day work on average usage & it has quite good battery backup even if you play intensely heavy games or doing a multitask. Battery usage is dependent on what you are doing on the device. With moderate apps usage like WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram etc. battery would go a day long but with resource heavy apps can bog down the device & the battery drain is quite noticeable.

Final Verdict:

So here after reading the entire in-detailed review of the device, you can choose whether Redmi Y2 belongs to you or not. My personal thoughts on this device are, if you are a moderate user who uses the device to listen to songs, watch videos – Online & Offline, send emails personal or work-related, sends SMS or Snpachat then without giving a second thought Redmi Y2 has just made for you. Above said should not discourage you from buying if you are looking for a budget phone with the good gaming experience. Redmi Y2 has really great gaming experience & gives you buttery smooth gaming experience.

Overall Redmi Y2 has blended itself into both the customer categories where it suits the normal working people who use their smartphone for office purpose or for everyday usage & also has greater control over hardware to provide lag-free gaming experience. Xiaomi has just caught the right hardware specification. Go & buy Redmi Y2 right away!
