Redmi Y2: First Impression

0

At the very first sight, packaging quality of Redmi Y2 is really great. With all red solid colored box makes your eyes sparkle. The box is neat & clean with all the necessary details printed on it. It says Made in India but I guess it has only assembled here & the actual hardware is manufactured in China.

Coming to the features of the Redmi Y2, it starts with the usual process of setting up a Google Account & then native MI account to sync your settings. It asks you a question whether you want to use it as a ‘New User’ or ‘Import data from an old device’. After successful setup, it will fetch some updates for pre-installed apps & also starts downloading bloatware which I find quite annoying.

Display

Looking at the display, it has HD+ resolution with a pretty perfect screen to body ratio for the perfect viewing experience. Also, it feels comfortable to hold the device in the landscape mode. It is essentially useful if you are an avid entertainment consumer. The Sound quality is quite amazing on Redmi Y2 looking at the price range.

Cameras & Security

Both the cameras are excellent & consist of just enough camera modes to shoot. You will surely love them. Due to the thin design of the Redmi Y2, the Camera has a slight bump on the backside. So the chances of getting scratches on the camera lens are relatively high. It is better to protect your Camera by using the case provided with the phone all the time. Talking about security features, it consists of triple security mode where you can set PIN, Password & Pattern. You also get a decent Face Unlock mechanism which works great & the very common Fingerprint Unlock which is also productive.

Multitasking & Gestures

Talking about multitasking, it has native PIP feature which is of great convenience. Also, switching between app is now easier with optional gesture feature which is very simple to use. All you need to do is get knowledge about the swipe gestures & all the necessary actions are performed. Switches are quick & even high-end graphics games are playable on this device. You can resume any game after replying to your messages, emails or after receiving calls.

Performance

Gaming performance is really smooth & with 3GB RAM, proper hardware utilization, you won’t feel any lag. Due to the big screen, the gaming experience becomes more immersive. You also have a great grip on the device due to its excellent build. The processor does a great job of handling multiple tasks simultaneously.

Overall, Redmi Y2 is more than what you can ask for in 10K price range. The Redmi Y2 has a lot more to offer & has convenient features which will make you feel amazed every single time you use it.

We will test the device more thoroughly & soon release the detailed review of this device. Stay tune & comment your thoughts in the comment section below to let others know what you think about this device?

Moto E5 Plus: Full Specifications, Battery & Camera Review

0

Moto has been known for rolling out E-series phones which have a strong battery backup compared to the other segments. The new Moto e5 Plus seems to be following the tradition & it comes with a powerful battery too. The Moto e5 Plus comes with a bigger display, 5000 mAh & near stock Android on it available on Amazon for Rs.11,999 but before deciding its worth, let’s have a complete review of the Moto e5 Plus.

The Moto e5 Plus rivals like the Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 & the popular Redmi Note 5 already have good benchmark scores in the category of phones below 15,000. Fortunately or unfortunately, the Moto e5 Plus falls into the same category. So the Moto e5 Plus has some serious competition & let’s find out how good the Moto e5 Plus is in this race.

  • Moto e5 Plus Design

The Moto e5 Plus looks far more premium than the way it feels. As far as the design is concerned, the Moto e5 Plus is slightly thick due to the additional layer in between the Battery & back panel. Moto has added this layer to make the device more secure & absorb jerks during an accidental fall.

The fingerprint scanner lies hidden the Motorola logo on the backside & I find that classy as it looks like a futuristic design on a smartphone. The 3D Polymer back gives the phone rich glossy finish which is actually plastic but looks like glass finish. The plastic alternative deserves a thumbs up as plastic is less likely to shatter like glass.

The Moto e5 Plus is slightly heavy owing to its huge battery but the phone looks very modern compared to other phones in this price range. On the right edge, we have the Volume & Power button whereas on the left edge we only have dual sim tray with dedicated Micro SD slot. On the top, we have the earphone jack & micro USB charging port on the bottom.

  • Moto e5 Plus Specs & Display

Costing around Rs.12,000 the Moto e5 Plus has 3GB of RAM along with 32GB onboard storage. The ROM can be extended up to 128GB. The Moto e5 Plus has 6 inches of IPS LCD display which looks good but it lacks sharpness. Snapdragon 430 processor powers the Moto e5 Plus which is an old processor. When compared to the Snapdragon 636 in the Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1, the Moto e5 Plus lags far behind.

Due to its old processor, the Moto e5 Plus is unable to support AMOLED display. The screen has thin sides but has thick chin & head with a form factor of 18:9. One good thing is the ‘always-on-display’ feature which helps the users to reply from the lock screen to the messages.

  • Moto e5 Plus Software & Performance

The Moto e5 Plus comes with Moto Actions which facilitates modern features like three fingers screenshot, swipe to shrink the screen, lift the phone to switch the incoming calls to vibrate mode & simply flip over the phone to activate DND mode. The applications like LinkedIn, Instagram, PhonePe & Outlook come pre-installed on the Moto e5 Plus.

This phone features a near-stock version of Android 8.0 which makes the UI looks familiar. As far as performance is concerned I have done the Benchmark Test & the scores are which look very average, in fact, poor when compared to the Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1. The other way to test this phone is by playing a high-end game like PubG on this phone. This game consumes a lot of battery & needs high graphics processing unit.

This phone is not at all impressive when it comes to the Graphics. We have to play the PubG game on the lowest possible graphics settings. This spoils the user expectations with respect to the gameplay. Face Unlock feature which is one of the common features of today’s phones is not available on this phone but the fingerprint unlocking mechanism is pretty fast & impressive.

  • Moto e5 Plus Camera

The Moto e5 Plus looks like it has 2 camera’s on the rear side. If you look closely, it has only one 12 megapixels camera alongside laser autofocus sensor. So I personally call it ‘Pirate Camera’. We do get flash beneath the rear camera as well as ‘Selfie flash’ with the front camera of 5 megapixels.

I don’t know if it is right to expect more from Moto e5 Plus at this price range but I didn’t like the camera at all. The rear camera has some serious issues with the dynamic range from the object which tends to expose the images. The camera is easily affected by the intensity of the external light. So brighter the light, the images would look unnaturally bright, lesser the light, the camera would automatically enhance the colours making it look unreal. Only the shots taken in a certain amount of light turned out to be good pictures.

About the front camera, the distortion due to light is similar to the rear camera. Even in the night, the photos have noise in them & the selfie flash doesn’t seem to be helping much.

  • Moto e5 Plus Battery

The battery on the Moto e5 Plus is 5000 mAh & this is the Universal selling point of this phone for Moto. I personally tested this phone for a day with full charge & did use some social media apps throughout the day, used Maps for an hour & played games like PubG, Asphalt 8 which consume a lot of battery. What I noticed was at the end of the day I was still left with battery slightly more than 50%.

This means that users can stream Netflix for straight 18 hours or listen to 200 hours of music in a single charge. When it comes to the battery it’s very impressive. For an average user, the battery would easily last for more than 2 days.

So, this was the full review of the Moto e5 Plus. If you want a phone with long-lasting battery & you are not a hardcore user of the smartphone i.e. you don’t do gaming, you can choose this phone. But just in case if you are ready to compromise on the battery backup this phone gives to its users, you go for other brands in the same price range which have faster Processors & obviously a better camera with AMOLED displays on them. For me, Moto could have done better on this phone but let’s wait till Moto is out with their next E-series phone & see if they have improvised on that device.

Moto E5 Plus 2018: First Impression

0

The new Moto e5 Plus is the new leader in the range of smartphones priced around Rs.12,000 when it comes to battery backup it has. The cameras have improved & both the lenses now feature flashlight. In the Moto e5 Plus first impression, it looks like the smaller brother of the Moto G6.

This phone suits perfectly for daily use & the following is the First Impression of the Moto e5 Plus:

  • Design & Display

The Moto e5 Plus has a 6 inch IPS LCD Display and it looks good but lacks sharpness. The phone has a 3D Polymer glass which gives the phone a rich & unique look. The Moto e5 Plus has an arched back which gives the users a good grip on the phone & the build quality is such that the back doesn’t crack easily.

This phone features Moto Display which makes accessing & replying to the notification easier than before. Moreover, the screen to body ratio is 76% which is also disappointing. The only good thing in design is the fingerprint scanner embedded in the Moto symbol on the rear side of the phone which looks very neat.

  • Battery

The Moto e5 Plus has a huge 5000 mAh battery which will last for more than 2 days for average users. The battery on the Moto e5 Plus lasts longer because the processor doesn’t consume much battery. You also get a 10W rapid charging adapter in the box which charges phone quicker than before.

  • Processor

The Moto e5 has Snapdragon 430 which is an old processor. So it doesn’t compete with Snapdragon 636 at all & such old processor doesn’t support the high-quality display. This phone has stock an 8.0 which is pretty close to the Android. Other phones in this price range have slightly better options on them in terms of Processor & Display.

  • Camera

The Moto e5 Plus has a camera on the rear which I personally call ‘The Pirate Camera’. The camera has a laser autofocus sensor to automatically correct the blurred images & make them look better. Moto e5 Plus camera has become smarter as it can scan QR Code now. This phone also has a selfie camera with selfie flash which takes decent pictures. Soon we’ll be uploading the camera samples with detailed Camera Review.

The Moto e5 doesn’t have high-end Software & Hardware specification which doesn’t make this phone popular or usable for the gamers. You can play all the games at the lowest possible configuration which is not at all pleasing.

All in all the Moto e5 Plus is an appropriate choice & most promising phone around this price range but only average users can make the best use of this phone. If you don’t have a preference for a specific brand, you can go for other brands which have better Software & Hardware specifications than the Moto e5 Plus.

Jio Phone 2 vs. Jio Phone: Price, Design & Full Specifications Compared

0

Jio Phone 2 is finally arriving in a few months everyone is keen to know what this phone has to offer to its users. Reliance Industries Limited, after creating a buzz in the Telecom Market with its Jio Phone last year in the month of August, has come up with the successor of this Phone. The company is introducing before us, the ‘Jio Phone 2’. The Jio Phone being VoLTE enabled & had many features in it, proved to be a tough competitor for the entry-level smartphones which are priced at Rs.3,500 to Rs.4,500.

To know more about what the new phone has and what the Jio phone had, let us compare both the devices right away.

Jio Phone 2 vs. Jio Phone – Variations in Design

The Jio Phone 2 has a QWERTY keyboard & horizontally placed display like we had on Nokia X2, giving the phone a completely new design. The phone has 4-way navigation key & a dedicated key for activating voice assistant. QWERTY Design makes this phone more comfortable for users to type on the new Jio Phone 2 compared to the older Jio Phone.

Jio Phone2 vs. Jio Phone – Price Difference

The Jio Phone was priced at Rs.1,500 & this amount was supposed to be refunded after 3 years to the users. But after the exchange offer brought to us by Jio, people can buy the Jio phone 2 by exchanging their old Jio phone and additionally pay Rs.501 & upgrade to the new model. So I think Jio has managed to sell Jio Phone 2 at an effective price of Rs.2,000 & for new buyers the phone will cost Rs.2,999. The phone would hit the market 15th August 2018 onwards.

Jio Phone 2 vs. Jio Phone – Software Specifications

Both the phones will run on the KAI OS & 512 MB RAM with 4GB Internal memory. There’s not much difference in the internal architecture & software components on both the phones. But, Jio claims this new phone will support applications like Facebook, Whatsapp & Youtube which were not accessible on the Jio Phone. The Jio Phone was single sim LTE but the Jio Phone 2 will be dual sim LTE, VoLTE & Vo Wifi enabled.

The Jio phone 2 & Jio phone will obviously differ when it comes to the dimensions and weight, but let’s wait till we get to use the device and know more about its processor speed & overall performance in coming months.

Moto launched two new budget smartphones in India: Moto E5 Plus & Moto E5

0

Motorola has launched two new smartphones in its pocket-friendly E series family, the Moto E5 Plus and Moto E5, the successor of the most popular phone in 2017, the Moto E4 Plus and Moto E4. And let me tell you both of these phones are capable of withstanding the competition in the Smartphone Market. The Moto E5 Plus will be exclusively available on Amazon from midnight & the Moto E5 will be available on the Moto-Hub. Before knowing about what these phones have on them i.e. the features, specifications, let me uncover the fact that the Moto E5 plus is priced at Rs. 11,999 & the Moto E5 has a price tag of Rs. 9,999. Amazing right?

1. The Moto E5 Plus

Moto E5 Plus which is also called ‘The Complete Entertainment Device’ & it is perfectly designed for viewing videos & listening songs for long hours. This phone is power packed with 3 GB of RAM & with a 5000 mAh battery which Moto claims will last for 2 days. This means that you can watch  18 hours of Netflix without charging your phone. For all those Music lovers out there, who feel that music is their savior while traveling or any other activity, once you have a full charge on this device you can listen to songs for more than 200 hours at a stretch. Coming to the professional users, they can browse the Internet for more than 20 hours in a single charge.

This makes this phone a truly Content Consumption Device with 6 inch HD Display. Such a huge battery needs a facility to charge itself quickly than expected, so living up to the expectations, Moto has introduced the 10W Rapid Charging Adapter. This helps in charging the battery faster & along with this, the phone features Moto App Suggestions which notify the user’s to kill apps which are consuming more battery and are not used by the user at given instance of time.

I’ll describe more about the design of this phone when we get hands on the device. But, this device for sure has a modern look & it competes well alongside the all glass body on the phones like the OnePlus 6, iPhone X. The phone has been re-engineered and Moto has been successful in making this phone thinner and lighter than the Moto e4 Plus.

Whenever next generation phone in any series of any Company is launched, they make sure that the Camera on the new phone has some improvements or upgrades. Moto, like any other company, has done the similar thing & has improved the Camera quality on the Moto E5 Plus. I’ll soon post about the detailed review of this phone where you’ll be made familiar to new camera features on this phone. Smarter Camera with barcode scanner & Selfie Flash i.e. Flash on the front side, are some of the features which I can reveal to the readers as of now.

2. The Moto E5

Now we’ll look at the Moto E5. This phone has 4000 mAh battery,  5.7 inches of HD Display, 2 GB of RAM, 13 megapixels on the Rear Camera, 5 megapixels on the front camera & supports the Rapid charging facility like the Moto E5 Plus. All in all the Moto E5 is tagged as ‘A Road Warrior’ and it is completely designed for rugged use & for those people who spend a lot of time on the phone.

This was just an Overview of Moto E5 Plus & Moto E5 and I’ll soon come up with a full review in coming weeks. You can watch the video of the Launch Event of these Phones here.

0

After using Android Oreo, which is almost one year old, the Android P is the next in the queue. The Android P Beta has been rolled out and I am going to tell you how to upgrade to the Android P Beta on your OnePlus 6.

Before you get your hands on the Android P you must understand that it is a typical Beta version which is under trial & errors will occur every now & then. Now we need to Restart the phone & slide into the Recovery Mode. It is mandatory to do this step or else if you restart without going into the Recovery mode, the phone will remain hanged in the start.

To access the Recovery Mode, follow the steps given below:

  1. Ensure that your phone is switched off, press Volume Down & Power Button together and hold it for 3-6 seconds. This will take you into the Recovery Mode.

Now since you’ve seen how easy it is to get onto this Beta version & enlighten the Developer inside you, it’s equally easy to switch back to the Android Oreo. You can find about the rollback procedure on the OnePlus’s Official site. So let’s explore the Android P on OnePlus together and see what it has to offer to make the user experience better.

Do You Need to Upgrade to OnePlus 6 from OnePlus 5?

0

The OnePlus has been capturing huge chunk in the smartphone market & has maintained the consistency of releasing new devices twice in a year. If you backtrack one year from now, you’d notice that not much has changed on the latest device when we compare it to the OnePlus 5. Talking about OnePlus 6, it comes with an all-glass body, notch at the top, smaller bezels, larger & brighter display & fingerprint scanner mounted on the rear makes this phone look modern.

If you are using OnePlus 5 now & looking forward to upgrading it, is buying OnePlus 6 a right choice? Let’s answer this question by comparing both the devices right away.

Which factors keep them on the same page :

The first thing which users notice is the UI. As you walk down through the generations of the OnePlus phones, you’d notice there are hardly any changes in the UI & Software Specification. Even after 12 months, the core of OnePlus 5 & OnePlus 6 looks pretty much the same. Talking about the battery, both the devices have 3300 mAh battery on them and the Dash charging facility is applicable to both of them. The 6GB & 8GB RAM are the 2 variants common to both of them.

The OnePlus 5 & OnePlus 6 both use the Oxygen OS so this justifies that OnePlus, taking all its users into consideration, has done minimum alterations in the OS on all of its devices. This doesn’t make the OnePlus 5 users feel like they are using some old or outdated version of the OS. Both of them have dual camera’s but we will talk more about this segment in the other section mentioned below.

Factors in which OnePlus 6 takes a leap ahead of OnePlus 5 :

One of the main features which people look out for in a phone is how good it looks. The OnePlus 6 has made a style statement for itself with its all-glass body & vibrant colour variants. It looks far more modern and rich than the OnePlus 5 which has an aluminum body. The AMOLED screen is common to both of them but the form factor seems to have been improved on the OnePlus 6 which is 19:9. Also, the screen size is 6.28 inches and new notch takes this phone much ahead in the race with OnePlus 5. Although weight does not matter much, in this case, OnePlus 6 weighs a little more than the OnePlus5.

The OnePlus 6 camera comes with OIS and has been improved a lot compared to the one we have on OnePlus 5. You can see the Camera Samples of both the phones.

You can clearly see the picture quality & how the camera works better on the OnePlus 6 and decent enough on the OnePlus 5.

Should you Upgrade to OnePlus 6 if you have the OnePlus predecessor?

Now we know that the range of phones by OnePlus seems to be identical when it comes to Software Specifications. This makes it hard for us to judge them based on their differences. Apart from the design and form factor, one more way in which they differ is the Benchmark Ratings. The OnePlus 6 ranks second and far ahead of the OnePlus 5 in the Benchmark Ratings owing to its processor, the Snapdragon 845. The OnePlus 5 has Snapdragon 835 on it which works fine with 8GB & 6GB RAM but OnePlus 6 manages to leave it behind.

So if you need a phone with a modern look & faster processor along with trending features like Face Unlock which you get on the OnePlus 6, you should upgrade to this phone. One good thing is you’ll still manage to get at least 60% of the original value as the resale amount of your OnePlus 5 which will obviously help you to buy the OnePlus 6 & stay ahead in the race of Smartphones.

2018: Innovations in Design of Smartphone

0

We are halfway through the year 2018 & we have witnessed that the Notch Design on the display & the face unlock Mechanism were the few things which belong to this year. Faster Processors, Multiple Camera’s, All glass body, Minimum bezel, wireless charging have all been introduced before the world. Users are always waiting for the new features from the manufacturers but after achieving such excellence in the field of mobile technology, I’d love to draw your attention to ‘What can we expect in the phone’s coming up in near future or what’s gonna be new in the design of smartphone?’

1. Zero Bezels

All the Smartphone manufacturers in the market today are trying hard to reduce bezel size to minimum or zero to stay ahead in the competition. It is possible using the flexible display’s but this seems to me like an important factor which everybody will try to match up.

2. Week-long Battery

Users of Phone and uses of Phone are two things, which over the time has been escalating at a rapid pace, this means the manufacturers have to take care of the ratio of usage time and purpose and accordingly design the battery. When it comes to Smartphones, the better the battery, more will be its usage because humans tend to use more if they are getting more. So let’s expect a something like a week-long Battery on upcoming phones.

3. Flexible Displays

Foldable Screen is an idea brought before us by the Samsung by incorporating this technology long back into their Mobile devices but they did not release any product in the market yet. We’ve all been waiting for this since a long time but Microsoft seems to be developing something using the foldable screen technology & this process is called Project Andromeda. I’ll be presenting a Blog soon about this project.

4. Indestructible Glass

Be it The iPhone X, The OnePlus 6 & few others, all of them have all glass body which on one hand gives them a classy look & makes them very fragile on the other. So, to overcome this, smartphone’s might be designed using tough glass or rich looking plastic as their build materials to make it indestructible & look better.

5. Smarter Virtual Assistants

Siri, Alexa, Bixby & Cortana, the much known Virtual Assistants might become smarter than they are today. They might sound more like human beings & less like a robot who works on algorithms & a set of procedures. The Virtual Assistants along with Artificial Intelligence is going to make our life much easier as it would perform all of our daily chores with minimum human interference & maximum efficiency.

6. Display embedded Finger Print Scanner

Ming-Chi Kuo, who looks after the Touch ID mechanism on Apple devices has already made it clear that Apple will no longer have the Touch ID authentication on its devices. This makes it clear to us that other than Apple, rest of the manufacturers might come up with Finger Print Scanner Embedded into the display. This is one of the most predictable features which would exist in upcoming phones.

7. Embedded SIM Modules

Many of us use more than one contact number or change numbers frequently, for which we have to manage multiple sim cards. Usually, phones come with Single or Dual sim slots, but let’s imagine, what if sim cards did not exist at all? Well, it looks difficult but it is possible & you will witness this in near future. Smartphone manufacturers are working on technology where they will have Universal Sim Modules embedded within the phone’s architecture. The only thing users have to do is register using some login credentials to their preferred network & enjoy the services on the go. This concept, if implemented will also facilitate in making the phone almost 100% water resistant as there will not be any tray’s for inserting Sim Cards.

8. Wireless Charging

Last but not the least, the way we charge might completely change and all the phones would support wireless charging. This will also help the manufacturers to get rid of the charging port and come up with some different design on the top & bottom of the phone.

This brings us to the concluding part of the topic but all I have to say is, let’s just sit back and wait for the time to tell, what new smartphones will look like at the end of this year. Are you eagerly waiting for the same, as I am?

Does Overcharging Hurt Your Phone’s Battery?

0

Batteries are different from other components on our smartphones. They have chemicals in them and these chemicals generate energy. Needless to say, like all good things it will wear off with time and that is the reason batteries need to be taken care of. But many of our local tech experts often give us various tips to maintain a good battery health but it often ends up in damaging our battery. So let’s talk about all such myths one by one about Overcharging your phone.

The Chargers

Firstly let’s have a look at chargers.

We are often told that we should only use the charger that comes in the box with our phone, or buy a new charger from the same brand if the original one ever gets damaged.

But that is just not right. A charger’s job is to supply current, there is nothing special about your charger. And all smartphones have regulators that limit the supply of excessive power to your device so even if you end up using a high output charger, your device will only take in enough power that it needs. So you can clearly use any charger and there is nothing to worry about there.

Discharging your Battery

Some people I know have this habit of completely discharging their batteries to 0% and then charging them up to 100%. They feel that if the battery is not used to its full limit, it may lose its full capacity.

To be honest, this was true back in the days when we were using nickel-cadmium batteries and it was known as the battery memory effect, but now all batteries are of lithium-ion and this thing doesn’t exist anymore.

So it doesn’t matter how you charge your batteries, you could charge them 10 times a day for 10% and it would still be fine.

Overnight Charging

Next is overnight charging, This myth also has its roots in the olden time when devices would heat up or sometimes explode when they were left for charging overnight. But we are living in 2018 and all of our devices are smart enough that they can stop the device from overcharging. So once your battery percentage reaches 100. The charging stops automatically. So don’t worry about overcharging and you can, by all means, leave your phone for a full charge overnight.

Battery Saving Apps

Now we have the battery saving apps, So I have been one of those people that have used a lot of battery saving apps in my younger days. But eventually, I realize that they are all useless. Even the best of battery apps are actually doing nothing. There will be a battery saver profile on your phone by default and it can perform most of the battery conserving tasks.

In fact, I would say that by using a battery saver app we are actually losing battery by allowing one useless application to keep running on our device 24/7.

If you really want to save battery via software you might wanna look into rooting your device and installing some custom kernels and disabling a few CPU cores with their help.

Do not use Phone while Charging

Next is this very common myth that comes from our parents. Your parents must have at least once told you to not use your devices when charging because they heat and might even explode. But as much we should respect our parents this is just a myth. When we are using our phone while charging, we are charging and discharging it at the same time.

Yes some heat will be generated and the charging will be a little slower, but that’s it. It is nothing more than that and your battery won’t have any adverse effects.

Conclusion

So that’s all I had, do not stress yourself about overcharging your phone battery, your smartphone is already taking care of it.

OnePlus 6 Gaming & Performance Test

0

As we know, OnePlus 6, which is the flagship phone launched by OnePlus a few months back is capturing the market and has turned out to be amongst most popular phones in 2018. The Phone features all glass body, notch at the top, Dual cameras, faster Snapdragon 845 processor, Full HD AMOLED display, healthy 8 GB RAM, Adreno 630 GPU & other new features. We must note that 8 Gigabytes of RAM on the phone is the maximum till the date compared to any other phone.

The phone comes with 2 variants i.e. 6GB & 8GB of RAM & the GPU which makes this phone most appropriate for gaming. Trust me on this guys, if you are into gaming, this is the phone you have been waiting for all your life. So, let’s dive into the details of what this phone has to offer for all the gamers out there.

Gaming Mode on OnePlus 6

This feature is a dream come true for the gamers because once we have turned on the gaming mode, we can block the notifications, divert calls onto the speaker & disable automatic changes in the brightness during your gaming session. You can add apps you want to use in the Gaming Mode in the settings.

This mode also has a network boost setting in the Gaming Mode. This feature is usually helpful while playing Online Multiplayer Games. These games require strong network connectivity to perform smoothly. Network Boost setting, when enabled, routes all the data packets from network to serve only the online gaming sessions and prohibits all other apps from using it. This ensures better internet connectivity while gaming with minimum lag and perfect frame rate.

Battery Saver Mode on OnePlus 6

The Battery saver mode for gaming comes along with two sub settings i.e. Low and & High. The low cuts short on Resolution whereas the High cut shorts on Resolution as well as Frame Rate.

For testing both these options I decided to play PubG Game in the High mode initially. The gameplay did not feel rich as it did before and the grey scale intensity increased. Certainly, the frame rate fell below normal & since this is a first-person perspective game, it made aiming at the enemies tougher than what we experience outside the gaming mode. Talking about the battery percentage, 5% of the battery drained out every 15 minutes in the high mode.

Switching over to the low mode, I won’t say it was impressive because the resolution was somewhat between the High Mode and the normal mode. But it was possible to aim better in the low mode as frame rates were unaffected in this mode. Followed by that, we noticed that the Low mode too consumed 5% of the battery every 15 minutes just like the high mode.

Now, it was time to play the same game with gaming mode turned off. Guess what guys, the battery drained out 5% for every 15 minutes in a similar way we witnessed in the Battery Saver mode. I’d say you should enjoy this game by opting out of the power saving mode so that you enjoy your gaming sessions along with high definition graphics and normal frame rate as you don’t save any battery at all for this game in Battery Saver mode.

One more significant factor that is taken into consideration is heating up of the phone while gaming. The OnePlus 6, while living up to the user expectations, in terms of performance, graphics and overall gameplay, gets moderately warm and does not heat up much.

All in all, apart from your preference for a phone with a notch, navigation gestures and the battery saver mode which needs improvement, this phone remains to be a good choice for the purpose of gaming which is available at reasonable cost.
