What Next iPhone Would Look Like?!

0

Very soon from now, Apple seems to be gearing up for introducing new iPhone but it has left everyone guessing, what exactly people are going to get this time in the new iPhone. What I’m about to share with you guys is a complete outcome of my research and market review about what people are expecting and how Apple will cater needs of people.

So, what could be the next iPhone or iPhone’s look like?

Taking into account, the global cost of iPhone X, iPhone 8 & iPhone 8 plus, we all know that we have to spend a lot of money on buying these models. No wonder they are worth it but product cost is an important concern Apple might consider this time and roll out a cheaper iPhone model. Also, I am expecting that high-end version of iPhone X is on their cards maybe iPhone X Plus or iPhone X2.

The cheaper version is the one which would be similar to iPhone X but will have fewer features than the latter one. This makes it clear that Apple will eventually stop producing iPhone X as everyone will prefer the cheaper version which will be somewhat similar.

Let us have a look at the renders which I have found on the Internet which will help you relate what I am trying to convey.

As you can see above, these are the two iPhone designs Apple would probably launch. Do you want to know how they would look besides the existing range of iPhone’s?

L to R: iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X & the other two are the ones I have predicted. source: 9to5mac

Initiating with iPhone X2, let us figure out what it will look like and about its features.

L to R: iPhone X, iPhone X2 or X Plus. source: 9to5mac

The iPhone X2 or iPhone X Plus might have a huge 6.5” OLED Display and a dual camera just like the iPhone X. Physically, it would be similar in size to the iPhone 8 Plus. Rich in looks, larger battery, wireless charging, 3D touch, stainless steel body with glass on the rear side & Face ID are the features which we can expect in the bigger version of the iPhone X.

source: EverythingApplePro

Moving on to the cheaper iPhone, if this phone turns out to be the way I am thinking, it will be preferred by most of the buyers who are low on budget. This variant might be 6.1” and similar to the size of iPhone 8 but will have a full -screen display with no Taptic sensor or buttons. It will feature a single lens Camera, an Aluminium body, LCD Screen but on the same page it might miss out on 3D Touch & Wireless Charging. This version too might have a powerful Battery.

L to R: iPhone 8 & expected cheaper model. source: 9to5mac

Apple has topped every aspect when we compare the iPhones to other phones in the market, but Battery Performance is something  Apple would improve in the new iPhones. To address this concern, Apple has redesigned its battery arrangement inside the iPhone.

source: EverythingApplePro

The newly designed batteries are ‘L shaped’ and the divider has been replaced making the battery bigger and more efficient. Earlier, Apple used to outsource the Power Management module it uses in the iPhones but this time Apple has engaged in the in-house production of the same. This would enable Apple to redesign the internal structure with better flexibility than before and eventually improve the overall Performance.

source: EverythingApplePro

Apart from this, the Touch ID would no longer exist in any of the future iPhones for sure but we can expect the Rose Gold colour in the new iPhone’s which was missed the most on the iPhone X. Now only time will tell how precise my predictions will be, so stay tuned for more updates.

How to Send Android Messages from PC

0

The art of text messaging has been evolving at a rapid pace and the closest we are to the messaging service can be described using terms like SMS & Whatsapp. The SMS is a primitive method but as we say ‘old is gold’, Google has come up with ‘Android Messages’ which enables you to send text messages using the web browser. Earlier this mechanism was possible but only via third-party applications which makes it less secure than what Google as brought before us.

Lets us understand ‘What this application does?’

Firstly, you need to have the ‘Android Messages’ app on your phone and just in case if you don’t have it you can download it from the Play Store. Users should make sure they are not using any other apps for managing their messages. Google has designed a standalone interface which doesn’t have any third party interference. It simply connects your Cell phone and Computer over a secured network.

The next concern is obviously ‘How to set up this Application?’

This setup is very easy and I’ll guide you step by step. Open any browser on your Phone, Computer, Laptop or Tablet and go to messages.android.com. The will show you a QR Code which you will need to scan from your Phone.

QR Code will appear in the Blue Box in above picture.

As shown below, open the Messages app on your phone and tap on the three dots in the top right corner, select ‘Messages for web’ and then tap on ‘SCAN QR CODE’ and scan the QR Code visible on the browser page.

Steps to enable Android Messages from web

After a wait of about a couple of minutes, the messages app connects your phone and synchronizes all of your contacts. You can add more devices using the same procedure and you are good to go. You can send messages from one device to the other and witness how quickly the messages travel without any delay.

Google will shortly revolutionize the way we communicate using text messages with the help of RCS (Rich Communication Services) Technology and take it to a completely another level. As of now, this app is not yet released for all phones running on but it will soon be available for globally for the Android users.

Which iPhone works well with iOS 12?

0

Well, the iOS 12 is about to release this autumn. I am excited to share with you, which new things it will introduce before us as well as various Apple’s iPhone which it will support.

Apple claims that the new iOS will cater facilities like Performance Modulation and Demodulation as per the use which would help the user to save battery. It would load applications 40% quicker, access to the keyboard has been improved by 50% & would open the camera 70% faster than before. Apple has introduced a new file format i.e. USDZ file format which enhances AR experience.

The question here is that which phone one should buy to make the best use of the new iOS. Let us explore this concern in detail.

To begin with, I am selecting one of the most popular phones, the iPhone X. The details are as shown below.

Hence if you are buying an Apple phone, be rest assured, any model which you choose as per your requirements, it will work smoothly and perform its functions with ease.

Reliance Jio: Alibaba and Amazon of India?

0

Reliance JIO the fastest growing telecom service provider in India provides data, voice, SMS, and applications. The disruption caused by JIO in the telecommunications industry is unprecedented and has enabled millions of consumers with value services.

It has gained 4G/LTE market share far ahead of its service provider competition and has caused rapid consolidation in the industry. Several telecom operators in India have either merged, closed business or filed for bankruptcy, while those who survive are facing straight quarterly losses.

The real story is though that JIO seems to be having its eyes set on a much larger industry and its business model seems to be replicating that of larger global conglomerates such as Alibaba and Amazon.

With its wings spread across digital commerce, payments, video, data center, healthcare, and social media these large conglomerates have unique insights into consumer behaviors and are now aiming at not just meeting and predicting demand but creating it.

Jio’s long-term strategy is to establish its presence across payments, both Pay TV and Video on demand, messaging, print, cloud data center, commerce, social networking, healthcare and other industries so that it can cross leverage data across various platforms and analyze consumer behavior to not just predict but create demand through use of AI / ML algorithms.

In line with the digital strategy of all global conglomerates- Alibaba, Google, Tencent, Amazon, Apple and some of the other multi-country telecom operators like Telefonica

Jio will and is already monetizing these services in two ways

  • Hard and Soft bundling as part of both Mobile and eventually broadband plans
  • Other Digital models such as advertising, subscription, start-up fee

In the near term, Jio will continue to expand

  • Jio Music- the most downloaded app in Feb 2018. Revenue model subscription and advertisement
  • Jio TV and Jio Cinema- acquisition of Network 18, deals with Alt Balaji, Eros Now and others. Revenue model subscription and advertisement
  • Jio Money- revenue model through interest on available balance
  • Jio Chat- revenue model advertising
  • E-commerce using Jio Money to buy from Kirana stores

With the launch of IOT Jio will further launch services for

  • Smart Homes
  • Smart Grids
  • Fintech- Insurance, Banking
  • Digital Farming and Food
  • Smart Building
  • Smart Manufacturing
  • Connected Cars

JIO will eventually enter in Video space in a much bigger way by offering Pay TV services apart from currently Over The Top only services. It could be either through Satellite or FTTX

Data is the new Oil

It’s very clear that new companies and business models are about who controls reams of data generated by humans and machines. Our daily lives are changing the way we interact with each other and with gadgets and machines around us.

It is expected that by 2021 there will be close to 5 billion smart devices out of which roughly 3 billion would be on device artificial intelligence enabled and 2 billion would be local cloud artificial intelligence enabled. With devices including smartphones impacting numerous interactions, they would generate volumes of structured and unstructured data. Siri, Google Assistant, Bixby, Alexa, and Duer are becoming first interfaces to people with heavy advanced machine learning programs running in the cloud and local neural processing unit in chipset enabling natural language processing and interactions.

Globally we generate roughly 2.5 quintillions (1 followed by 18 zeros) bytes of data each day today and will generate around 163 zeta bytes (1 followed by 21 zeros) of data a year by 2025. There are various ways you can use this data to glean language, vision, text, video, and numerical information that can be processed either on the device or on the cloud.

You can run self-learning programs to train themselves and the hardware or machine on which they are running. With multiple programs feeding each other and training themselves on this vast amount of data, and enabling self-learning they can emulate reality in the virtual world which can define how we behave.

There are roughly 6000 products made from petroleum starting from fertilizers to vitamin capsules and the idea is to use data in a way that can enable products, services and ways to do business.
Smart grids, connected cars, smart cities, smart buildings, smart manufacturing, connected health, Fintech, and digital farming and food are all examples of using data in a way to redefine how business is done.
Data is the new reality, and most of the digital conglomerates have realized its value. Whether it is massive data centers on land or under the sea, the objective is to enable abilities to possess a massive amount of data, process it and then use it to enable new business models.

Alibaba in China

Alibaba may have started as just an online market place enabling transaction but is now a $40 billion company with market cap of more than $500 billion. Alibaba achieved this feat in less than 20 years.

Alibaba today is known as a Chinese multinational e-commerce, retail, Internet, AI, and technology conglomerate founded in 1999 that provides consumer-to-consumer, business-to-consumer and business-to-business sales services via web portals, as well as electronic payment services, shopping search engines and cloud computing services.

Today Alibaba has interests in digital commerce through Taobao and Tmall, payments through Alipay, video streaming through Youku, Tudou, search through Shenma, and social media through Sina Weibo. Alibaba’s competitor in China Tencent has similar interests in JD direct sales platform, Wechat pay, Tencent videos, Sogou and Wechat.

In the digital world the intent is to collect data at every touch point across, commerce, payments, video streaming, and entertainment, search and social media and then use this data across platforms to know customers as well as they know themselves and then not just meet demand but create demand.
Alibaba and JD.com singles day sales crossed $45 billion in 2017. The one-day shopping event is bigger than Black Friday and Cyber Monday combined.
The ability to generate cash and improvise ways to business through cross leveraging data across platforms cannot be more glaring than this single day sales event, wherein you could buy goods from a social networking app through payment enabled by the same service provider while your data is getting collected and products are getting personalized and targeted to you by the same company.

Amazon globally

E-commerce sales as a percentage of the total will touch around 20% in the United States by 2023 and 25% in China. Amazon currently holds a market cap of $833 billion with revenues of $177 billion a multiple of 4.7. Walmart in contrast currently has a market cap of $240 billion and revenue of $500 billion a multiple of 0.48. Started in 1994 Amazon grew from selling only books to becoming the largest internet retailer in the world after Alibaba and becoming a cloud computing firm.

Riding on massive data that Amazon collected about its consumers Amazon now offers products and services for grocery delivery, on-demand video and music streaming, on-demand cloud computing, AI-enabled virtual assistant, application store, cloud storage platform, smart speakers, e-reader, digital media player, tablet computer, digital video game distribution, developing television series, distributing and producing films and comics, and wireless devices.
In just 20 years Amazon has disrupted industries and created new business models on what could be called as extracting products and services out of the new oil- data

Telecom operator spending on digital platforms and content

Telecom operators globally have joined the race in expanding beyond offering just data and voice. Telefonica globally has been an early adopter of digital a journey they started in 2012. Since then they have spent close to $48 billion Euros, in digitalizing the underlying platforms.

Aura is the name of machine learning or ‘cognitive intelligence’ function which will automate responding to common customer queries as one of its first applications.
AT&T completed its acquisition of Time Warner in June 2018 bringing together global media and entertainment leaders, Warner Bros., HBO and Turner with AT&T’s leadership in technology and its video, mobile and broadband customer relationships.

The joint entity will have a market cap of $197 billion with access to content and distribution. Netflix just a streaming service with 125 million subscribers has a market capitalization of $170 billion. Turk Telecom, NTT, Telstra, America Movil, SK Telecom, SK broadband, Singtel all now have 20% to 60% penetration of over the top or mobile subscription-based video service in their total video connection base. Pay-TV operators are now seeing an increasing play of internet in their traditional services.

From a technology standpoint, roughly 35% of tv connections are now delivered by IPTV indicating a move towards converged offering with a fixed line.
It is becoming increasingly clear that with new technologies such as AI, AR/VR, IOT, Cloud and analytics emerging, the incumbent telecom operators have realized that they can no longer sustain existing business and stay profitable unless they coalesce various business streams to know more about their customers.

Virtual Assistants and Artificial Intelligence

On the consumer front, artificial intelligence is making headway faster than people expect. Roughly 60% of smartphones now have voice assistants that are helping adopt artificial intelligence. Google assistant is the market leader with 50% market share of virtual assistants on a smartphone, followed by Apple Siri at 30% and Baidu at 20%. Alexa is gradually becoming a household name. So, with fundamental and new services and products getting launched, artificial intelligence will find its application starting from voice assistants, and image recognition to massive data churn on a cloud in the background finding patterns, spotting behaviors, personalizing and predicting purchase decisions. In a very subtle form of changing individual and mass behaviors.

Internet video advertising and subscription

The video will account for up to 80% of internet traffic by 2021. Its only natural that likes of Netflix, Amazon Prime, Youtube and Facebook will see both advertising and subscription-based model emerging. Global video internet ad revenue is expected to reach only $60 billion by 2021. This is expected to grow from the current 12% to 17% of Total TV advertising revenue of around $160 billion by 2022. Pay TV growth has slowed and stagnated while internet-based content consumption is on the rise for advertising dollars to move from pay tv to the internet. This trend augurs well with a more converged landscape of telecom, internet and Pay TV. So a new player cannot just achieve quad play- television, broadband, fixed and mobile phone- but also combine it with internet-based video and music services to go fully digital in the true sense. It’s an opportunity and disruption at an unimaginable scale.

India Video and Music ecosystem

Barely had India’s DTH providers- Airtel, Dish, Tata Sky, Videocon- had grown profitable that the video ecosystem started to change. Increasing video consumption over the internet meant new players in advertising and media agencies, delivery platforms, content aggregation, broadcasting and content, and platforms emerge. DTH and cable operators are now competing with Hotstar, Netflix, Voot, ditto TV etc. Reliance Jio has jumped into content aggregation and delivery platforms like Apalya, Kaltura, Digivive, and Saranyu are gaining grounds.
Similarly, on the music front Gaana, Saavn, Wynk, Hungama and apple music all have seen a steady increase in their paid subscription

AI team by Reliance JIO

In June 2018 Reliance Jio Infocomm started hiring AI team. It’s just a beginning to the long and enormously successful journey that has been traversed by Alibaba and Amazon in their home country and the rest of the world.

The OnePlus 6 camera on the rear side is 16+20 MP Dual camera setup. It has a portrait mode and Optical Image Stabilization. The 16 MP Camera comes with Sony IMX519 sensor with 1.7 aperture which enables OIS, and 20 MP Camera comes with Sony IM376K sensor and same 1.7 aperture. I didn’t get the use of this secondary sensor here because it is at the same aperture and focal length as the first sensor and also it is not even a telephoto lens which is quite confusing. Well, on the front, you get 16 Megapixel Camera with f 2.0 aperture and EIS. And the portrait mode is available on both the side. Front as well as the rear.

15 Features of iOS 12 You Should Know Before Updating

0

Apple recently announced Apple’s iOS 12 updates in WWDC event. And this update is going to be available for all the devices which are running on Apple’s iOS 11 right now. This time Apple has focused majorly on Performance of the iOS over rolling out new features. The iOS 12 is faster, smoother and better than iOS 11. So we will not only see the new features in iOS 12 but also see how much faster iOS 12 really is?

The first new feature you will notice is on iPhone X, you don’t need to tap and hold to close the app anymore. You can simply swipe up if you want to close them. Now, this was the most needed feature. It was quite annoying for me to press and hold every time I want to close an app.

ScreenTime:

Just like Google announced “Digital Wellbeing” feature in Android P last month, Apple has taken the similar approach with the new feature called “Screen time”. This feature will give you the detailed insights and report of your daily and weekly usage. Like which app you used for how long and at what time.

iOS 12 Screentime

And you can also add time limits to some apps. Like on games, Facebook, Instagram and Social networking apps. And if you use it for more than the time limit, the app will show you the time limit screen and you cannot use it. Well, you can ignore the limit if you want to. There is also a new widget for this Screen time so that you get the report just by swiping left.

iOS 12 app limit

QR Code Scanner:

Swiping to the control centre, you will see a symbol of QR code which opens the QR code scanner. And it works quite just perfectly. Also, there are some changes in DND settings. It changes the UI of the lock screen and you will not receive any calls and notifications when DND is activated, which is something similar to Shush feature in Android P.

iOS 12 qr code scanner 1

PasteBoard:

Swiping down to the search bar, now you will see the link or any phone number you copied last time. And you can paste it directly from the clipboard.

iOS 12 pasteboard

Group Notifications:

The notifications centre of iOS11 is really annoying. Sometimes I have to even clear each notification manually one by one. But Apple has fixed it in this update with Group notification. All the notifications of one specific app will be grouped in one single notification. You can clear it, view it and also manage notifications of that app if you don’t want to receive any in future. Also, the cross button to clear notifications is quite big now.

iOS 12 group notifications

Measure App:

Now coming to one of the best things in iOS 12. The Measure App! This app so amazing and accurate and I was literally measuring everything from this app. Apple has made the use of Augmented Reality perfectly here. You can measure the size of objects, walls, your phone, and almost anything. It also gives the option to copy the length to the clipboard.

iOS 12 measure app

iMessage:

And now the second best thing, Message App. There are several changes in the Message App. First, it now shows the shortcut options like audio calling, facetime and some information about the user when you click on the name. And now when you will click on the camera icon in the message app, it will open the camera on the full-screen interface instead of just showing the small camera screen at the bottom. Also, now Apple had made it easy to access iMessage Apps. In Apple’s iOS 11 it was at the bottom of the keyboard and quite complex. in Apple’s iOS 12 it comes above the keyboard and works smoothly. And now the length of Animoji has been increased from 10 seconds to 30 seconds.

iOS 12 imessage app

MeMoji:

Talking about the Animoji, now it also detects the tongue. Yeah, Apple has made Tongue detection feature available in the new update and the best part is you can now create your own emojis which is called as MeMoji. Like this one, I have made for myself. I had a lot of fun while creating that emoji, I mean MeMoji.

iOS 12 memoji

Dual Face Unlock:

Face unlock was something which really needed to be updated. And in Apple’s iOS 12, you can keep you multiple face id. Like if you want your brother or someone from the family to unlock the phone too, then this feature can be useful to you.

Watch it in action here:

Multiple FaceTime:

And now you can have Facetime with multiple users. And that is a really amazing feature. You can have a group facetime conversation with over 32 People. And the window of their videos changes its size when they are speaking. The one who is speaking will have bigger windows, and smaller for one who is not. Also, you can use Animojis and MeMojis in Facetime now. Will be very useful if you don’t want to show your face to someone.

iOS 12 facetime

Smarter Siri:

Google has recently updated their Assistant with lots of new features. So, obviously, Apple has to come up with something in Siri. And Siri has just got smarter. Siri will now show you App suggestions and also there are some new voices added in Siri. Also, Siri can perform some new tasks which were not possible in Apple’s iOS 11.

iOS 12 siri languages

Photos App:

There are some new features in Photos App as well. Now you can search for people, places, locations, objects, etc. And the app will detect it and show the photos related to your keyword. Like if I want to see Photos I clicked in Powai, I will just type Powai, and it will show all the photos I clicked in Powai. This was one of the much-needed features. Also, now Photos app creates an album for you by creating group pics you clicked on the same place.

iOS 12 photos app

Music App:

Coming to the Music app, now you can search songs on Apple music by typing the lyrics, which doesn’t seem to work perfectly. But this is the beta version, maybe it will work in Full version. And now the artist thumbnail looks quite big.

Automatic Updates:

Last but not least, now there is an option of Automatic updates which you can turn off and on according to your preferences.

iOS 12 automatic updates

So those were the new features of iOS 12. Let me know your thoughts and opinions in the comment section below

Google I/O 2018 Keynote Summary

0

What is Google I/O?

Google I/O is the annual conference by Google which takes places every year in California, where Google discusses all the new updates and features they are going to release in coming years. Google I/O extended is the extension of Google I/O Conference where they discuss the new technologies.

Every year in this event, Google never fails to impress us with big announcements and amazing feature updates. This year in I/O 2018 Google announced Android P, new updates in Google Virtual assistant and much more. And there is no any doubt that AI and Machine Learning were the forefront of the event. The event was 2-hour long. But don’t worry we have got your back. Here is the Google I/O 2018 Keynote Summary:

1. Gmail:

Smart Compose:

Google recently rolled out major design changes in Gmail and now they are also adding some AI features in Gmail. They call it Smart Compose. This feature will help you by suggesting phrases and words while you are typing an email. And it will also predict usual texts such as address, contact number, email IDs, etc. I think this feature is nothing but a predictive texting we get to see on our mobile phone keyboard while typing.

Smart Compose

2. Google Photos:

Suggested Actions:

Again, Google is using Artificial Intelligence in Google Photos.
Google Photos is getting a new feature called as “Suggested Actions”. This feature will suggest you some actions by reading the object in the image. For example, if you clicked the pic of your friend in any party, then Google Photos will detect the face of your friend and will suggest you share that photo with your friend.

Suggested Actions

In Google Photos, now you will be able to switch B&W Photos to Color and you can also add color pops, hue, saturation and what not.

Suggested Actions 2

Another mind-blowing feature of Google Photos is that it can recognize the document and convert it PDF in no time. That is really amazing, you don’t need a Camscanner or any other third party app anymore.

3. Google Assistance:

John Legend Voice:

Next is Google Assitance. Well, I just want to say one thing: “Google, Nailed it!” Google has added 6 new voices in Google Assitance and it also includes the voice of John Legend which is like a cherry on the cake.

John Legend Google Voice Assistant

Food Delivery Actions:

Google Assitant is getting completely new interface on Android and iOS with some food delivery actions which includes, Dominoes, Starbucks, KFC, etc.

Follow up Conversation:

Also, now you don’t have to say “Hey Google” or “Okay Google” again and again. You can have continued follow-up conversation with your Google Assitant just like Alexa.

Google Assistant Conitnue Conversation

Google Assitant Phone Call:

Wait it doesn’t end here. Google Assitant can do some real-life tasks like calling people in the backend and setting up appointments and meetings. This video of Google Assitant phone call went viral on the internet in no time. Now that is what I call a Real Assitant! Google just left Siri, Alexa, and other Virtual Assistants behind with this feature!

4. Google Map

There are two new major features in Google Map:

Walking Navigation and For You Section.

First Google is making the use of Augmented Reality. There is Google Map Camera which when you open will show you instantly where you are. Also, it has a small fox which will show you the directions to your destination. It feels like a Walking Navigation.

Android P Google Map walking navigation
There is a For You section which recommends you restaurants and clubs around you according to ratings and your friend’s reviews.

Android P For You

5. Android P

Now let’s dive into Android P.

Gesture Navigation:

The first feature is gesture navigation. Google has said goodbye to old navigation buttons. Now its time to say Hi to gesture navigation which is nothing but an iPhone X like gestures. Also, Android P will now not only show you apps but also actions within the apps.

Android P Gesture Navigation

Adaptive Brightness:

Next is Adaptive Brightness which uses AI to understand what features and apps user will need high brightness and then it adjusts the brightness level according to user preferences.

Android P Adaptive Brightness 1

Android Dashboard:

Another feature is Android Dashboard which shows how much time you spend on your phone, which app do you use the most, how often do you unlock your phone and some other user behaviors.

Shush

Google has also redefined their DND feature. The new feature called as Shush. If you flip your phone over then it will automatically go to shush mode and you won’t get any pings, messages or any other kind of distractions.

Android P Shush
