5 Best Zero Calories Foods That Will Fill You Up

0

If your trip for reducing diets seems too difficult to achieve, start with small steps. Make very small adjustments, one at a time in what you eat. A simple, effective and very satisfactory way to make diets to lose weight, is introducing foods with zero calories to your diet.

It is said that there are foods that have zero calories. This is a myth. It is not that these foods do not have calories; they are simply those that burn more calories than they contribute. That is, they are foods that have fewer calories than those needed to be digested. Many of these foods may also help you lose weight, although it does not mean that you are going to the skin because of eating them.

Low calorie food

What is Zero Calorie Foods?

A food is considered “no calorie” only when the calories burned through its consumption and digestion are less than or equal to the total calories in the food itself. In short, if a mushroom has only five calories, but your body spends 10 calories to digest it, it is food without calories. Such foods can not only help you lose weight, but can also help you save money. Most are quite cheap, especially if you buy at a local farm or farmers market. In addition, the consumption of these healthy foods can naturally increase your immune system and, over time, your body is likely to be rewarded with fewer visits to the doctor, which can be a great money saver.

If you think of your food dish like a pie chart, start adding some foods with zero calories inside. Over time you work until you reach the content of 30% to 50% of these foods in your meals and you will see drastic improvements to your health. This simple rule alone can limit your intake of fatty and caloric foods and helps you accelerate the loss of that extra weight.

The Best Foods With Zero Calories

There is a wide range of fruits and vegetables that are zero calories, and by increasing your daily consumption, you can start on the path to better overall health.

Zero calories Fruits

  • Grapefruit
  • Apricots
  • Oranges
  • Tangerines
  • Strawberries
  • Watermelon
  • Apples

Many fruits, including those listed, are excellent sources of dietary fiber that naturally help your body break down the sugars contained within the fruit itself. Because dietary fibers are harder to digest for your body than other food materials, they expend more energy in the digestion process, which in turn means that more calories are burned .

All these fruits are excellent sources of vitamin C, which promotes a healthy immune system and acts as an antioxidant, and a couple of them (grapefruit and apricots) are excellent sources of vitamin A, which improves the vision and health of the skin . On the other hand, while these seven fruits are part of a healthy and balanced diet, citrus fruits provide an additional benefit, since they can help reduce the risk of stroke.

Zero calories Vegetable

Whether you eat them on a side dish, on a salad, or just as a snack, there are plenty of good reasons why many health professionals encourage you to eat vegetables: they are low in calories, high in fiber and rich in essential vitamins. Like fruits, all vegetables impart certain health benefits, making it difficult to make mistakes with them. The following vegetables are all considered as zero calories:

  • Spinach
  • Green leafy vegetables
  • Carrots
  • Red peppers
  • Tomatoes
  • Celery
  • Onions

These six vegetables rich in vitamins have a huge amount of vitamins A and C, and good levels of folic acid, which helps in cell growth and DNA synthesis and repair. They also contain potassium, which is an important electrolyte for efficient nerve transmission. Surprisingly, celery carries a good packet of vitamins. It is high in fibres, vitamins A and C, folic acid, potassium, manganese (an antioxidant that promotes a healthy nervous system, among many other health benefits), and vitamin K, which strengthens bones and blood clotting. of help in cases of injury. The fiber found in grapefruit, called pectin, helps to avoid arterial problems and protects you against cardiovascular diseases while it fills you for a long period of time. Also, like other citrus fruits, it speeds up metabolism, helping you burn calories faster. In addition, it is a fruit well known for burning fat, helping the body with extra calories. Like other citrus fruits, its high content of vitamin C, and nutrients such as limonoids, help reduce the chances of developing tumors in the stomach, colon and lungs.

6. Asparagus

Asparagus

Asparagus has only 27 calories per cup. They are high in antioxidants because they contain high levels of amino acids that act as diuretics, getting rid of everything the body does not need. It is also high in vitamins and minerals such as vitamin A, B6, C, E and K, folate , iron and proteins. The vitamin B that it contains helps to break down the sugars in the blood while it regulates it, helping to prevent and fight type 2 diabetes.

These are some of the food containing zero calories and are enough to let you stay full for hours. If you are looking for such zero calorie diet then, I will definitely suggest you the above mentioned fruits and vegetables. All of these are available even in your local market.

0

So you just turned on your television and hit that Netflix icon but wait, as always you are just confused that what to watch now. You could dive right into the shows that Netflix recommends you to watch but again you are not sure that will that be right. You don’t want to waste your time on something utterly nonsense that is far astray from your taste. This is the common dilemma faced by each and every person while they are filling up their popcorn tubs for the renowned method of entertainment “Netflix and chill”.

Without making you wait anymore so that you can’t blame me for your cold popcorn and warm cold drink let’s dive into the list of shows which you are gonna recommend after some time.

  1. Peaky Blinder
  2. Black Mirror
  3. Stranger Things
  4. 13 Reasons Why
  5. Money Heist

1. Peaky Blinders

Thomas Shelby is mob moss and a businessman who wants to rise to power and is ready to take necessary steps towards implementing his vision. He can’t sleep as he is deeply affected by the world war where he was a tunnel digger and a war hero for the British military. With many things wrong with his life he doesn’t blame, contemplate or shows his anger to anybody. But boy oh boy don’t mistake me for saying that he lets someone slip away after making a fool out of him or even showing him disrespect. The trademark blade sewed hat that only peaky blinder wears will slash your eyelids the moment you offend Thomas or any of the blinders. The series has a dark taste and it has a large quota of politics, mind games, behind the back politics and well our very own Cillian Murphy who plays Thomas Shelby.  The peaky blinders was not originally a Netflix original but were taken over from BBC and if you like gangsters, guns, booze, and power struggle then this is the just the thing for you.

2. Black mirror

What would you do if you have the power to revisit every single moment from your past and analyze it? would you enjoy it or go crazy. And what if you have the power to virtualize your dead spouse and feel him/her again but deep down you know that it’s not real but just a computer algorithm imitating them.  Black mirror is a combination of individual stories depicting what could the technology do with us and we would just be hopeless and so deeply affected that we can’t seek a way out. There is no specific episode or character to talk about, even the episodes are not connected. This is one of those shows that I personally recommend everybody but beware don’t watch it if you are depressed, have anxiety issues or stress disorders because let me tell you this show can stir up emotion and make you feel nostalgic, Cramped or stressed. But not many shows have the power to drive such a strong emotion and that’s why it belongs in this list.

3. Stranger things

Will Byers, a local town boy disappears while he was heading back home after a game of dungeon and dragons with his friends. The whole town is shaken by this incident and being a small town everybody offers help and searches for will along with local police. Mike Wheeler, one of the friends of the disappeared kid found a strange girl of the same age who doesn’t know how to talk when he along with his other friends were searching for will secretly. He gives stranger girl a corner in his room to stay because apparently she has nowhere to go and was definitely scared of something. Later they found out the big secret behind the girl, why she is quiet and where was actually will disappear too.

The story plot may sound like one of those Enid Blyton books where four kids went up to some shady place and had their supper made up of sandwiches and lemonade but it is much more than that. This is one of the most watched shows on Netflix and is a must watch for every kind of audience out there.

4. 13 Reasons Why

The school life is fun but what if your friend had committed suicide and sometime later you’ve found out that you were the reason behind her demise. Clay Jenson a high school student received a pack of 13 tapes each with a name on it. The tape contains the reason why Hannah baker a normal and quite cheerful high school girl committed suicide. If your name is on the tape then you are one of the reasons why.

The storyline is shockingly truthful and depicts a story of a girl who really wants to fit-in and despite all, she’s been through tried to live her life. But one after one her hope faded away and eventually she met her end but left something that will disrupt the lives of those she left behind forever. So are you ready to listen to all thirteen of them and decide for yourself, then do add this one to your ‘To be watched’ list?

5. La Casa De Papel (Money heist)

You all have seen and heard the stories about the world greatest ever robbery and all but this time Netflix comes with something that is downright very detailed and leaves you speechless at last. There are a band of misfits of the society who have entered ‘Fabrica De Timbre’ forcefully carefully executes what is labeled as the biggest robbery in the history of the world. All started six months ago when a man who covers his identity behind his alias ‘The professor’ gathers a team and shares his vision of executing the heist. The series includes some of the very best strategies, situation handling Skills and a pinch of romance captured between all the bloody action out there.

Money heist is originally in Spanish and I recommend to watch it in the same language with subtitles on. Otherwise, you will be listening to someone other than those actor’s voice who had done complete justice to their roles. Every other show that secured a spot on this list is a personal favorite of mine and people like me, who are big-time Television buffs who like to watch content that makes sense. Usually people are not the same and similarly, the content they like differs too. I recommend to watch all of the above and get to know what you really like and develop a taste for yourself first if you are new to this.

How to Manage Your Work Stress

0

Every day we are subjected to different situations that test our ability to respond. These situations can range from pressures and high demands of our job responsibilities, family or the way we deal with interpersonal relationships, both work and personal. In small episodes, it can be positive, such as when it helps you avoid a dangerous situation or meet a deadline. But when it lasts over time it can seriously affect your health.

So, when is stress negative? This happens when the person feels that he or she cannot face what he believes are his/her responsibilities, which affects their health.

Why do you need to give Importance to Stress Management?

Stress weakens our immune system and has various side effects on our brain and body.  Therefore, it is important to tackle the causes of stress which can lead to problems for the individual at the workplace and relationships. These problems can lead to lower self- esteem and poor concentration.

IMPORTANCE OF STRESS MANAGEMENT

Symptoms of Stress

Not all symptoms have to be present to detect stress or even the majority. Read this list and carefully analyze if any, in particular, may be affecting you:

  • Frequent headaches
  • Stomach ache
  • Problems sleeping
  • Problems in personal relationships
  • Feeling dissatisfied at work
  • Frequent feelings of anger or explosiveness
  • Diarrhea or constipation
  • Bad memory
  • Common aches and pains
  • Lack of energy or concentration
  • Sexual problems
  • Rigid neck or jaw
  • Fatigue
  • Use of alcohol or drugs to relax
  • Loss or gain of weight

Ways To Manage Stress Your Work Stress

1. Avoid short-term pleasure

WRECK-IT RALPH EATING GIF
Like Overeating

Forget:

  • Overeating / defect
  • Foods with high sugar content
  • Smoke
  • Drink alcohol
  • Sleeping too much or not getting enough sleep

2. Do one thing at a time

If you find that you are making bad decisions in response to stress, you have bad habits and you want to change these behaviors, do not try to face them all at the same time. Use the KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) method, or what is the same, make it as easy as possible. Change one habit at a time and it will be much easier to achieve the objective of zero work stress.

3. Meditate

Meditate

You can start by creating the habit of spending 10 minutes each day focusing on your breathing. Take deep breaths and you will immediately notice how you relax. It is a perfect exercise to control a stress situation when it comes to you. Then try to focus fully on the task you are doing at all times. We tend to be doing a task and thinking other issues, which leads us to do nothing in full awareness and lose concentration easily. What if you try to eat without putting the TV in the background? Focus only on eating, without thinking about anything. You will see how you enjoy it and it feels much better than gobbling up the races without barely chewing. Try these relaxation techniques to lower the heart rate and reduce blood pressure.

4. Change your perspective

Change your perspective

Stop seeing the problems as such. From now on they must be challenges and the key question to find one will be: How can I solve this challenge? Any opposite situation, take it as a learning. Ask yourself: what can I learn from this experience to avoid it in the future?

5. Take care of your diet

No! Take care of your diet
No! Take care of your diet

By eating healthily you will charge your body and mind with energy. Your mind will be fresher and you will be able to face the challenges of day to day with better predisposition and more clarity of ideas.

  • Never skip breakfast
  • Eat something every 3-4 hours
  • Drink a lot of water
  • Try to have dinner about 2h before going to sleep so you can do the digestion beforehand and not wake up as if you had lead in the stomach

6. Rest well

Rest well
Take care of yourself

As it happens with food, resting the necessary will wake you up to the next day’s energy. I am not in favor of “prescribing” a number of hours to sleep, because each person is different. Of course, a good habit of going to bed early (no later than 11 pm) will make you wake up at a prudent hour every morning with the best energy.

7. Do exercise

Do exercise. | no cats were harmed during the process of making this gif
Do exercise with appropriate accessories | No cats were harmed in the process of making this gif.

Cause when you exercise you release endorphins, which makes you feel good. Do at least half an hour of exercise each day. The sport you choose does not matter.

8. Do things that you like

Do things that you like
When leaving work, do not spend the rest of the day at home. Take a walk to the park with the family, stay with friends, go to the movies, return to see your favorite movie, in short, do some activity that takes you out of the routine and clears your mind. You can dedicate time to the day to do something that you enjoy alone and make you clear of the rest like listening to music, reading a book, etc.

9. Create Strong Relationships and Seek support

Create Strong Relationships and Seek support
One of the great benefits of applying networking is that when you need help, you will always have a helping hand. Do not keep all the pressure for you. If you are constantly in a state of stress and can not share it with anyone, there will come a time when you will explode and fall into chronic stress, or what has been the same, a problem solved by professionals only. Discuss the situation with your classmates, family, and friends. Openly ask for help from those who can lend it to you. You will be surprised by the predisposition that they have to help you when they know you are in a bind.

10. Establish Reasonable Objectives

Create Strong Relationships and Seek support

Do not accept more work than you can cover. Set goals within reasonable limits that you know you can meet from your previous experience. If you do not have experience in a specific project/task, collect information about the execution times and multiply that time by two to leave your learning margin.

Realistic planning can be very useful in this case.

11. Remember, one thing at a time

Focus your effort programming a daily agenda with work for blocks of time of no more than 90 minutes and set rest times of 15 minutes minimum. Avoid the happy thieves of the time (emails, notifications, calls …) and do not accept extra requests, however small they may divert your attention and cause the delay in your work. Do not use rest periods to answer calls, notifications, manage your email … Rest is rest. Dedicate a specific block of time to address these issues.

12. Work with music

If you can do it, I recommend it 100%. Whenever I can, I usually work with special music to concentrate and I assure you that my targeting capacity is much greater. Do you remember one thing at a time? Well, with music it is much easier to get it.

How To Avoid It?

To start you have to get to establish new routines. It is important that both in the field of work and in the staff, learn to manage your responsibilities and daily activities in a positive way, following specific guidelines and applying them with persistence.

  • Set goals
  • Plan yourself
  • Communicate
  • Just relax
  • Rest well
  • Eat healthily

Benefits Of Stress Management

1. Train the memory

The stress hormones, in addition to putting us on alert, intervene in the process of learning and memorizing information.

In a situation of stress, a small amount of cortisol is released, a hormone that in small doses increases our attention and the ability to retentive in the short term. So occasional stress can help us work more concentrates and improve memory.

2. Develop intelligence and improve cognitive abilities

A low or moderate amount of stress stimulates the production of neurotrophic, responsible for the survival of neurons and strengthen the connections between them. As a result, stress increases memory and attention; and it helps you to be more productive.

In addition, the “fight or flight” instinct releases certain chemicals that immediately increase the ability to work more concentrated. But it not only improves attention and concentration but also increases intellectual, academic and professional capacities.

3. Stimulate creativity

Stress occurs from an unpredictable situation. And unexpected situations favor the appearance of new ideas and new points of view. Well, here we find another benefit of stress. Since the brain needs to look for new solutions to solve the challenge before us, it is an exercise to develop creativity and innovation.

4. Improves Decision Making

The fact of having to face a stressful situation develops our capacity to find efficient solutions to the problem that has been presented to us. When it comes to managing the situation, the brain searches among the stored information that which serves to succeed. What if he does not find anything useful? Then he will try something new. That is if we learn to manage stress, not only will we improve self-control, but over time we will become more decisive and efficient when it comes to solving problems and making decisions.

5. Strengthens the immune system

When the body responds to stress, it prepares us for a possible attack or infection. One way to do this is by increasing the production of interleukin, which is responsible for stimulating the immune system. So when we feel stress, they increase our defenses and our resistance to possible infections  (such as colds). As you see, nothing like stress and a diet based on superfoods to have defenses and energy to the fullest.

6. Develops the ability to adapt

Learning to deal with stressful situations helps us to respond more efficiently and effectively the next time we experience them, which improves our ability to adapt.

7. Increase in concentration

The “good stress” helps us to enter a state of “flow”, so it is easier for us to concentrate on a task, to abstract from the environment and immerse ourselves deeply in what we are doing. And since one of the benefits of stress is that it allows you to work more concentrated … you can improve productivity!

The next time you think “I’m getting stressed,” remember this post and make stress work in your favor.

8. Help to be a better version of yourself

When we stop perceiving anxiety situations as a threat and adopt a positive learning posture, we can take advantage of the benefits of stress and turn it into a window of new opportunities. Stress appears when we face situations in which we have little knowledge or experience. So in reality, when we get stressed, we have before us the opportunity to learn, acquire new knowledge and enrich ourselves. So stress, well managed, help us to be a better version of ourselves.

Stress

Keep in mind that stress can be an experience that comes face and life we only have one. Surely this one will be fuller if, instead of living it stressed, we enjoy it from tranquillity, happiness, and well-being with oneself.

‘The Notoriously Versatile Roti’ Food Rant Diaries.

0

Welcome to #NoNonsenseRoti

Hi, Guys, I’m Kush and Back with my Food Rants. These will be a Series of Articles About the Different Food Cultures Techniques and Dishes I have Strong Feelings For.

Henceforward let’s Begin.
Roti
Surreptitiously watching Foreign cooking shows I noted something the other day. The world doesn’t identify the difference between Roti, Paratha, etc. Being born in India invariably makes Roti an integral part of my life. For all I the one know it is the Inner Desi in me speaking, but I virtually deem it disturbing that the world puts the great food group that is Roti under simple name Bread.

Roti ain’t Bread

BRIAN GEORGE NO GIF

We allow it. I say No More.

Mexico eagerly devours tortillas Which is Roti with essentially a Spanish name. Italy has Pasta which is once more nothing but Roti shaped differently and boiled. Delicious Pastries around the World are all Rotis with French names. We heathen Indians don’t appreciate the diverse variety of Rotis we have merely in our own country.

Guy making Naans

Every cultural region in India produces a novel interpretation of Roti. For notable examples, we have normal Roti with raw flour and water. But we moreover have the Paratha, the Puri, the Naan, and the Kulcha.

More so our States bear their own interpretation of Rotis. Punjab unimpeachably has different Parathas. Parathas are essentially shallow-fried Rotis. But we Indians have unexpectedly made them genuinely interesting. We have differently stuffed Parathas besides the normal crispy plain Paratha. Bengal oh the extraordinary state of foodies steadfastly maintains a marginally unorthodox approach to delicious foods.

Bengali Luchi
Big Wholesome Parathas

The Bengalis like their food deep fried. So the same promptly applies to their Rotis. Bengalis have Luchi which are deep fried fluffy beds of fragrant clouds. The Roti flour is kneaded with extra oil (reason for 80% Bengalis high cholesterol) and then deep fried. Now I hear the north Indians Shouting ‘ These are Puri. To them Yes, Most part of India calls this delicacies Puri but in Bengal, they are popularly called Luchi and I sincerely appreciate my Bengali.

Bengali Phulko Luchi

Now Karnataka faithfully delivers an interesting take on Roti altogether. They traditionally possess something popularly called Akki Roti. This is made out of rice flour, unlike the familiar wheat flour. Now I have come by the tidy fortune of tasting Akki Roti and I can willingly promise it is undoubtedly Bloody delicious. It is genuinely like a soft packet of gracious goodness in the eager mouth. It is little spongy but generously provides a spectacular taste.

We all recognize the conquerors always influence a civilization. India has been ruled by hundreds of Rulers and similarly, they have undoubtedly represented a broad influence on our food. The Nizam of Hyderabad prominently displayed the charming picture of Kulcha (delicious variety of Roti) on his flag. Even the Great Nizam Loved his Roti.

Mouth savoring Kulchas
Mouth savoring Kulchas

We Indians today are all entrapped by the dazzling luster of ample Foreign food. Which is fine but the least we can do is stand up for our own. I visited a local village in Agra last year. I encountered a little girl not more than five or six Sitting by the fire rolling out perfectly round Rotis. I have undoubtedly seen international chefs with luminous Michelin stars falter while sluggishly rolling a Roti; they typically use cutters to discern the round shape. I should tell all you dear Readers that I am undoubtedly a foodie myself and also Love cooking. The exemplary way entrapped me she was rolling out circular Rotis. I bet if we measured we could score a perfect circle in each of her Rotis.

Round and round we go on a Roti
Round and round we go on a Roti

Earlier this Month I made my foray into rolling Rotis Yes, you surmised it right it was a disaster. I would display the rare picture of the one I carefully rolled, but I promptly burned it. Rigorously, It took me 3 weeks of daily rolling to get a roundish Roti. But that little girl was rolling perfect circles each opportune time.

We should sincerely appreciate the sterling work that goes into laboriously making single Roti. Our Mothers have been faithfully serving us round Rotis for our entire lives and we have been eagerly devouring them without a second thought. But I bet none of us have ever stopped to wonder How is it that this beautiful staple is made or how much conscious effort it demands.

Earlier making a perfect Roti was the final test in Indian cooking. But today it is precisely a dying art. It took 3 weeks of burning Rotis and a little girl to bring me this realization. I’m not commanding you to boycott foreign food. God knows I fondly Love my noodles. I am merely asking you all to, keenly appreciate Roti. It is like the humblest thing on your loaded plate. But without it, the delicious food would be incomplete.

So finally guys #MakeRotiGreatAgain. Don’t forget it is the Roti that traditionally commences the elaborate meal.

A Tour to the Heart of Buddhism

0

Buddhism is a religion which dates back to the 6th century B.C.E. It is one of the most important religions prevalent among Asian countries. It is currently the fourth largest world religion. At one time, it was recited in half of the civilized world, particularly in Asia all the way of the Indian subcontinent to Burma, Tibet, Thailand, China, Mongolia, South East Asia, Korea, and Japan. The founder of this religion was Siddhartha Gautama who was also known as the Buddha, or Enlightened One. Buddhism was basically preaching the life experiences of the Buddha, his teachings, and the “spirit” or “essence” of his teachings were (called dhamma or dharma) as models for the religious life.

Buddhism came from Buddha (Siddhartha Gautama) who was born into a wealthy family as a prince in present-day Nepal. He was moved by suffering in the world. He decided to give up his lifestyle and endure poverty. He began to teach others these truths out of compassion for suffering.

Gautama Buddha left both his wife and child Rahula to seek enlightenment.
Gautama Buddha left both his wife and child Rahula to seek enlightenment.

The most important doctrines he taught included the Four Noble Truths and the Eight-Fold Path. His primary Noble Truth is that life is suffering (dukkha). The other Noble Truth is that pain is caused by craving which is for sense pleasures and for things to be as they are not.

The Emergence of Buddhism

Mahaparinirvana
His final departure is called ‘Mahaparinirvana

After the death of Gautama, his followers began to organize a religious movement to preach his teachings. His teachings became the foundation for the beginnings of Buddhism.
In the 3rd century B.C., Ashoka one of the Greatest, the Mauryan Indian emperor, made Buddhism the state religion of India. He and his son helped to preach Buddhism throughout South India and into Sri Lanka (Ceylon) (3rd century B.C.E.).Buddhist monasteries were made, and missionary work was organized.

Features of Buddhism

Buddhism is a set of principles and practices derived from the preaching of Gautama Buddha.

1. The three Jewels of Buddhism

Three Jewels of Buddhism
The Three Jewels of Buddhism

It comprises the three main aspects of Buddhism namely The Buddha, The Dharma, and The Sangha. The main preaching is that  “Buddham sharanam gacchami, Dharmam sharanam gacchami and Sangham sharanam gacchami.” It means, “I go forth taking refuge in the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Sangha.” They may also use it as an affirmation for spiritual cleansing to strengthen their resolve to attain Nirvana.

2. The Four Noble Truths

The Four Noble Truths
The Four Noble Truths

They are based upon his insightful observation and pure reasoning and can easily be validated or ascertained by anyone with discernment. The Four Noble Truths are as follows. First, life is full of suffering without exception. Second, desire is the root cause of suffering. Third, it is possible to end the suffering, and fourth, it can be done by right living on the Eight fold Path or the Middle Path.

3. Nirvana Preaching’s

Nirvana implies the extinguishment of all desires and attachments. It implies the end of individuality or the end of all formations and associations that go into the making of the being, following the dissolution of the mind.

4. It prescribes Right Living:

It prescribed eight sets of practices to end the suffering and attain peace and Nirvana. The eight practices which were prescribed are right view, right resolve, right conduct, right speech, right effort, right livelihood, right mindfulness, and right meditation. These are further subdivided into three sets. Right speech, right action, right livelihood lead to the development of moral virtue. Right view and right resolve lead to insightful wisdom.

5. Schools and Sects of Buddhism:

buddhism-buddhists-budhasThe two main sects, Hinayana and Mahayana. Another primary concept was the idea that in the advanced stages of advancement on the Eight Fold Path, monks could postpone their liberation out of compassion and become Bodhisattvas to help other beings attain salvation. The Mahayana school also focused upon the nature of the existence and the state of Nirvana. Vajrayana Buddhism and is also called as Tantrayana which was another important sect, which emerged around 5th Century AD in India.

6. It Perfected the Art of Meditation

monk-hands-faith-personIt perfected meditation techniques, visualization and mindfulness practices to cleanse their minds and bodies and attain higher states of consciousness (jhanas). The Buddhist meditations practices which are worth mentioning are Anapana Sati, Samata, Vipasana. Anapana Sati is breath meditation, similar to Hindu Pranayama, in which a monk sits in an isolated place or a quiet place and concentrates on the in breathing and out breathing with mindfulness. Samata is a relaxation-cum-mindfulness technique which is used in the initial stages to calm the mind and experience joy and tranquility.

Teachings of Buddhism

Agile Nirvana Eight Fold Path
Agile Nirvana Eight Fold Paths

The Teachings of Buddhism includes its Eight Fold Path also called as Eight Aspects of Life, all of which are to be integrated into everyday life. These paths are introduced to make the environment aware of the Buddhist path. The Eight Fold Path is as follows:

1. Right Understanding: This is a significant step on the path as it relates to seeing the world and everything in it as it really is, not as we believe it to be or want it to be. It is seeing the right view of everything.

2. Right Intent: This is the step where we become committed to the path. It presents us what life really is and what life’s problems are composed of, Right Intent urges us to decide what our heart wants. It must come from the heart and involves recognizing the equality of all life and compassion for all that life, beginning with yourself.

3. Right Speech: This step estimates the power of the spoken word, and often regret words said in haste. It involves recognition of the truth, and also an awareness of the impact of idle gossip and of repeating rumors. The correct use of speech helps to unite others and can heal dissention.

4. Right Action: It recognizes the need to take the ethical approach in life, to consider others and the world we live in.

5. Right Livelihood: Buddhism promotes the principle of equality of all living beings and respect for all life. It implies that a Buddhist who is able will undertake some work, either as part of a Buddhist community or in their workplace.

6. Right Effort: It means cultivating an enthusiasm, a positive attitude in a balanced way. In order to produce the Right Effort, one should have clear and honest thoughts and feelings of jealousy and anger should be left behind. Right Effort equates to the positive thinking, followed by focused action.

7. Right Mindfulness: It means being aware of the moment, and being focused in that moment. It asks us to be aware of the journey at that moment and to be clear and undistracted at that moment. Right, Mindfulness is very closely linked with the meditation and its various forms the basis of meditation.

8. Right Concentration: It is turning the mind to focus on an object, such as a flower, or a lit candle, or a concept such as loving compassion. It is significant as they teach the mind to see things, not as we are conditioned to seeing them, but as they really are. At the same instance, they also lead to a feeling of calm and peace within the world.

Buddhist Councils

Buddhist Councils

The description of the six Buddhist councils has been mentioned below:

Name Year Place King Purpose
1st Council 483 BC Sattapani cave at Rajgriha King Ajatshatru It was held with the purpose of preserving Buddha’s teachings (Sutta) and rules for disciples.
2nd Council 383 BCE Nepal King Kalasoka It was called to discuss monastic practices, in particular, whether monks could be allowed to handle money.
3rd Council 250 BC Pataliputra King Asoka This Council appeared to have met to compose commentaries on the Tipitika.
4th Council 72 AD Kundalvana, Kashmir Kushan King Kanishka This Council appeared when Buddhism was divided into two sects namely Mahayan and Hinayan.
5th Council 1871 Mandalay, Burma King Mindon During this council, 729 stone slabs were engraved with Buddhist teachings.
6th Council 1954 Burma at Kaba Aye, Yangoon Prime Minister U Nu It was held under the patronage of Burmese government . The council commemorated 2500 years of Buddhism.
